Unhappy Customer looking for an answer from The Heritage team.

Dear Heritage team,

I am writing you because I'm quite unhappy about a guitar that I bought not so long ago. Indeed, I bought this year a H535 model that sounds amazing and has beautiful back and sides but the job on the binding and black dots on the edge is just disgraceful for the price I paid. I bought it new on eBay from Route 7 Music. I have a 1993 Heritage H575 Custom that looks and sounds amazing and I'm sad to be disappointed by this new one.

From a sound point of view, I have nothing to say, it's amazing. But it's hard to put love into an instrument that has very visible defaults on it, I don't play it that much because of these problems. I am a French professional guitarist based in London UK and all my friends told me that they wouldn't have bought this guitar if they had seen these annoying details. Me neither but the pictures on eBay didn't show them well.

So here it is: my true disappointment.

I will attach some detailed pictures. You'll clearly see the neck/body junction that looks cheap with the binding default and other close plans on the whole body contour. What about the control quality at end of the factory process?

I was wondering how the warranty was working with you guys: Can I have this guitar restored or is there a way to repair these imperfections somewhere? I put a Bigsby on it and I would like to keep it as the back and sides look amazing but I would be more happy if I could have this issues fixed.

Sorry again for this message,

I love your guitars, I even sold two Gibsons because I always preferred your artworks but this time, it's too much disappointment for me not to complain to the owners and to the Heritage staff.

Best regards,

Maxime Raguideau-Obadia

The Heritage Guitar company will not see this massage here.

Contact the Heritage dealer you bought it from to express your complaint and see if they can fix it or just return it for a refund.

That is an excellent picture; I would like to have that skill.

If you feel that strongly then you should contact your dealer.

I see 1/32" variance on a couple dots. Looks like your guitar was made by hand and not mass produced.

I have to budget and go without other luxury to afford a Heritage. But, I buy them to play so, I'm not sure I would've noticed as long as the tone & feel was there.

If one of my friends would denigrate any of my favorite guitars, then I would seduce his wife and reject her as inadequate.

I totally agree, but the only thing I see "wrong" in that photo is the dot is a bit off-center. To me, that is insignificant, and wouldn't bother me at all.

You mention the neck/body junction, but I don't see a photo of that joint. Perhaps I am not understanding the nature of the problem. Is the problem only with the binding, or is there a more structural issue with the neck joint?

While I personally would not have an issue with the offcenter dots, it clearly is a fault. Your best recourse is to deal with the seller. If he is an authorized dealer, he should act as the bridge between you and the factory. Having modified the guitar with the Bigsby may present a problem.

Changing the binding on the neck would be one way to remedy the situation, and I fear that it could result in more visible flaws. The dots are knocked in by hand, so the dot could be drilled out by hand, filled and redrilled for the new dot.

The dots are a bit off, but for me I would have never noticed such a thing. Also keep in mind that these are hand made guitars, and human hands are never going to be "perfect". I realize too that everyone's standards may be different. I'd say if it bothers you enough, contact your dealer or try the gang in K-Zoo. Best of luck with your issue.

This entry is clearly a hit and run post since the poster posted this the same day he joined and hasn't logged in ever since.

I am sorry you are so unhappy with the guitar.. I would try to get some satisfaction from your dealer first.. If that is they way you want to go.. But if you really love they it sounds and plays, I would just enjoy it, and accept the fact that it is a hand made guitar!! Just my opinion, and I hope you can work it out!!

Me thinks he is looking for a way to get his money back. Picky, picky, picky....

Carpe Deum.... But also, you had the option of refusing it as not being saisfactory. It's no good accepting a product knowing it's not up to your standard and then complaining. if it is any consolation, many top players are using imperfect guitars.

If you are not happy, take it back to the seller.

How easy is it to forget that, "a diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfections." - a Chinese Proverb that speaks to the imperfect diamonds we call guitars!
