  2. This is good to hear, from someone who worked in retail & has experience from those years. I remember the shitshow of opinions when Heritage was trying to deal with QC at that time. Myself I don't really have issues with most of that as I do my own setups, and don't care about cosmetics a lot, but I could see why a lot of people did. And if you're trying to establish a reputable brand of quality, it's absolutely important.
  3. I wonder if stuffing permeable bags full of activated charcoal inside the body would work? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activated_carbon
  4. It's not for the theft but the tampering of the guitar in certain situation. Glad you haven't had any issues.
  5. As above, thanks MartyGrass! I find the HB and P90 to be really nice. Don't use the single coil option much (have strats and teles) however the single coil option kinda pair pair nicely with the P90 option INMO
  6. From the stand point of body thickness, binding and angles, I haven't seen any real change until the CC. The CC headstock size and neck angle are different from the standard. I also remember there being a difference with the body carve between the standard and CC line. I haven't played a newer standard in a year, so I'm going on memory here, but the standard 150 felt similar to my 2003 157, except the neck was a touch beefier, more like my 535.
  7. The problem is that the smoke gets embedded in the bare wood inside with a semi or hollow body. It becomes a case of "dilution is the solution". Constant airflow gradually draws out the smoke. Unfortunately, it takes time for that to happen. For an H-150 style, wiping it down with naphtha would do the trick since only the lacquer and fretboard get exposed. It should remove the majority of the chemicals from the smoke.
  8. I've missed the Bird's keen eye for photos! You always caught such great moments.
  9. Wow! You use the key? In the past 60 years, I don't know that I have ever locked a guitar case. What's the point? If someone wanted to steal my guitar, they would just pick up the case and walk away. 😉 I don't even remember getting a key with any of my guitars. The after market case I bought from GC had two in the box. They're still there.
  10. Thanks so much for the reply!
  11. Man, I have been to K-zoo so many times I think I have worn out my welcome. I can't take long road trips like I used to. These days I am into side line photography for our local USAFL teams. I have to save my coin to fly to Austin in October to shoot the finals. I would love to be there. A lot of good folks show up. I have met some of my best friends in K-zoo. One year Big Bob and I were just north of Ft. Wayne on I-69. I-69 was a laugh but later we passed a lot of signs advertising, "Dick's Package Store." That just felt plain old vulgar.
  12. Wipe the entire guitar down with naptha. I've done this to a few smokey guitars. and it has helped immensely. Naptha is safe for nitro finishes! I'm personally not a fan of the ozone generator or fabreeze. I tried that many times and either didn't work (ozone genrator) or my guitar smelled like Fabreeze, which I find almost as unbearable as smoke! Leaving my case out in the sun did help immensely help. but I had to leave it outside in my backyard every day for almost a month before it took hold. The little fan trick sounds like it would work for hollow body! And I also thought that was the charcoal sounded like a good idea! Good luck!
  13. FWIW- I believe that those cases require the basic stamped key. Often those keys are universal. If you have any lying around that look similar to these, you may be in luck.

  15. Hey all, When I bought my 2011 H-535 it did not have a key for case. It's one of the older style cases that say "The Heritage" in big print on it. Would anyone out there have an extra key for this case? Thanks.
  16. I have used a box fan on the case and it did a good job. I like the idea of a smaller fan around the F holes. Thanks, will give that a try.
  17. Some amazing guitars for sure. That gold H-535 is stunning. I live in Elkhart Indiana. about an hour south of the Heritage Factory. Looking forward to the PSP coming up in August. Can't wait to see the factory. Will your be able to come to that event?
  18. The mini toggles switch among P-90, thinner single coil, and both (humbucker). Here's the wiring with push-pull knobs. The mini toggles to me are easier. https://www.seymourduncan.com/resources/pickup/wiring-diagrams
  19. I have owned 3 535s over the years. One I sold to Mike Novello. Another I sold to one of my best friends, Jim. When Jim passed away two years ago his sister said to take all of his gear and give it to friends. I sold the gold 535 to another friend, Joe. Originally I gave one guy a H-150, another a Gretcsh Les Paul style guitar and Joe got the Rick 12. I have the Ruby Rick. Where in Indiana do you hail from mate? I have people in Muncie. My cousin's daughter coaches the Daleville High boys basketball team.
  20. I've heard charcoal absorbs odors. I wouldn't leave it in contact with the gtr though. Maybe put the gtr in a closet with a hanging mesh bag full of charcoal?
  21. Thanks for the helpful input !! I own the new era oxblood H150 not the CC thou and i am wondering does the H150 new era 2023 has a slight to big changes from the older era ? From body thickness, bindings, neck & head angle ?
