No, i didn't name it Johnny ;D

I was waiting for a email back from Ren to tell me what model it is, maybe later?

Anyway here it is and it has a quite funny story too......

I went int this small shop the other day and i was admiring his Heritage collection. I played a 575 and a 535 he had, and as i looked over my shoulder, i saw this guitar hanging on the wall...out of the way, not really on the "main floor".  I saw that it was a Heritage, but it had NO hardware, pickups, tuners or electronics on it at all!  The guitar was finished, but stripped of its guts!

I asked the owner if it was for sale, he said it was...so i picked it up and check for a serial, sure enough (E****) and w/ the pointy headstock, carved top and non-trem....it spiked my curiosity FAST!  The fact that it was un-bound and a archtop, i thought was really odd for a strat style Heritage!

So i began to run some figures in my head to figure how much it would cost to refurbish the axe and what i should pay for the wood.  We came to an agreement and i took it to PETE for its resurrection!!!  My tech Pete, who is a Heritage employee said it proably was stripped because another guitar was completed at the same time that was already paid for and needed the exact same hardware, and possibly they were short parts at that point and time?

I just got it back today.  It has a Duncan '59 in the bridge and 2 Schaller singles.  It is basically unplayed, which is pretty cool for a 1988.  The neck profile is very similar to my 170, not real chunky...weighs in at 8 lbs.

Not a huge fan of those, really an archtop guy, as far as Heritages are concerned, but there is something about that piece!  The color is gorgeous!  That's just the right kind of flame for me, and is there just a bit of mineral stain in there?  Nice execution Brent!  Congrats!  Now, if that just had an ebony board....      :afro:

Un-freakin-believable!!

Brent, do you chant repeatedly about scoring the most obscure and interesting Heritages each night before you turn in?? ???

What a cool find...and story to match!

Considering what you gave up recently, you definitely deserve that rare bird.  Play it in good health.  8)

It isn't my type of guitar either but I have to say it looks nice and the neck looks like it would be fun to play.  Good catch!

Nice lookin' axe brent.

I like the set neck and the mahogany body, combined with fixed bridge, flame top and SD59 that should sustain like a b!tch.

It looks solidly built, a full tone report wil be expected in due course  :police:

You do seem to have a knack in acquiring unusual or rare Heritage guitars, long may that continue  :icon_thumleft:

It is a rocker all the way.  with that thick maple top, it is a little bright, but it mellows out a bit on the singles.  you would think it would weigh a ton, but it is really comfortable.

What a find. That bod +finish is killer!!!  For me, tho', too bad it's got that ultra '80s hockey stick headstock. I know some of you here are fans of that style, and that is cool. Besides, it's Brent's not mine.  ;D

Did H ever make a more traditional style strat-ish guitar?

I'd call it nice anyway. Did your tech (Pete) have any info on it. Good looking wood and finish.

he kinda thought it was a H 162 hardtail w/ a carved top...best he could tell

Yeah, I went back and looked at the pictures.  The 162V has a bolt neck, IIRC.  So, it's more like a carved top 160V, or maybe an unbound, carved STAT.

that makes sence
