Special Invitation To New Members

Hi Everyone. I'm here because SouthpawGuy sent me an email telling me there was a Heritage forum. Well, I'm a (fairly) new Heritage dealer. I signed on in 1/08 and got my first guitars a couple of months later. The 535s have always been my favorite electric body style, so I'm really pleased to carry them. Oh, I'm a lefty ONLY dealer. I'll be hanging out here a lot to catch up on all the news and nuances associated with these great guitars.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the welcome! I've learned stuff I did not know about Heritage already. Thanks for the email about this place. I imagine I'll be asking you all questions about options to get or avoid, models to get or avoid, etc. Things like "should I get a 535 with P90s in stock?" I always liked the Epiphone Casino with P90s. How about a Prospect Standard with P90s? See, I'm asking already!

Hello, Jerry, and welcome to the forum!!!  Since you brought it up, I'll testify.  I'm a dyed-in-the-wool P-90 fan!  I have a Super Eagle with the Lollar P-90's in it, part of my custom spec for the guitar.  Just a fabulous pickup!!!  Enjoy the forum; there are many fine cats here and a wealth of knowledge and experience!

Hello to all.

I have been playing guitar (off-and-on) for over 20 years and in the last 5 years or so have really gotten back into it.

Someone introduced me to Heritage guitars recently and I'm pretty excited by them.  I figured this forum would be a great place to learn about them.

I've always been into Gibson Les Pauls.  The first electric guitar I remember playing was my uncle's Les Paul Custom Black Beauty when I was about 6 years old and my first electric, bought when I was about 14, was an ebony Gibson LP Standard.

You will therefore not be surprised to hear that that I am particularly drawn to the H157.

Just discovered this site!

I'm Roberto, from Italy. 4 months ago I bought an exciting (for me...) 575 custom, probably the guitar of my life (50 years old  :( ).

I love its sound, even if it has some not "easy" action. My other guitar (Ibanez AS120 is much more easy to play).

Maybe some tuning could be needed.

I play in a non-professional jazz goup since 3 years.

Ciao to everyone

Bobpell~  Welcome to the HOC!  How did you come to know about Heritage guitars in Italy?  The web?  Or did our crazy support group's reputation for mischief reach the Vatican again?

I've owned Ibanez semi-hollows from the 80's and their action is consistently low and fast.  You might consider having your 575 set up in a similar manner.  The action on my 575 is similar to my old Ibanez AS200!

And watch out for the trouble makers that insist on pictures of your H575 Custom.

They'll blast you with  :this_thread_is_useless_withou  .

I hope you post often and enjoy yourself here.

Thanks for the welcome!

I've discovered HOC looking for info in the web, fortunately Vatican is far from me...  ;D

I take the chance to put another question on 575: often, when playing, the bass E start to vibrate even if I do not touch it, and this is a bit bothering. Is it normal or is it again a matter of setup?

ciao

PS - added pin on the map: what the hell is karma!?

Welcome, bobpell!  Italy, very cool!  The string vibration, if I understand your description clearly, is feedback.  This is common in semi-hollow and hollow body guitars. There is a lot of sound (air, of course) moving in and around a hollow body guitar, both from the amplifier and the guitar's vibrating strings.  Often a string, open or fretted, will respond to that sound by vibrating sympathetically, in unison, with a note coming from the amp and the guitar.  There are different ways to correct this. You might reduce the volume a bit; you could adjust the bass and treble controls on the amplifier; you could stand in a different location or turn slightly one way or the other relative to the amp; there are devices (even a simple inflated balloon) you can put into the guitar to reduce the air movement.  You'll have to experiment to see what works for you.  I'm sure some of the guys on the forum will have other suggestions. There are many knowledgeable, experienced players here.  Good luck, and keep us posted.

Thanks for the suggestion on feedback: I'll try the countermeasures.

The strange thing is that only Ebass seems to be affected ???

Thank you for the kind invitation. I'm Fabio from Milan, the happy owner of a 2001 H-575 Classic, a 1972 Gibson Les Paul Custom (still made in the very same plant in Kalamazoo), a 1998 Parker Fly DeLuxe (converted with custom made SH-2 and SH-4 Seymour Duncan pickups), a 2004 Sadowsky Ultra Vintage Strat, a 2008 Sadowsky Semy-Hollow Model (plus a few acoustics including a 1999 Ovation Custom Legend).

I equipped the H-575 with a Schatten Design AT-02 piezoelectric bridge for acoustic amplification: it's identical to the original ebony bridge and it works just fine...

Greetings from Italy!

Hi, just spotted the invite, my name is Gerry from Colwyn Bay, Wales in the UK.

I have a black H-150 which is superb and sounds like a L.. P... should sound, also an H535 in antique Cherry Sunburst which I am looking to sell on (Bought a good vintage Kalamazoo 335 which I have to admit out jazzes my particular H535).

Currently play through and old Fender Twin Reverb and until recently played through a Marshall JTM622 with extension cab. Did a tour in Poland this time last year with the old band "Kabana", now split up, but hate to admit played over there with my (Japanese Fender Strat; Seymour pickups) !! Frightened of getting my Heritages wrecked on the aircraft basically. Starting a new band, on our third weekly practise together, but reckon it is going to take a long time to get the current line-up to gel.

REgards to all for now,

Gerry
