H-575 Set-up specs?

Greetings,

I am new here.

I recently purchased a 2001 H-575.

A great guitar!!!

The sound is incredible!!!

I have a few questions:

-Can anyone tell me what the factory set-up specs for this model is? .ie string gauge and string height @ which fret.

-This the first guitar I have owned that has a floating wood bridge and the string grooves don't allow all of the strings to pass through the center of the poles pieces on the p/ups. Can I just sand the grooves out? or do I need to replace the saddle? & if so where can I find one?

-The neck p/-up volume pot is somewhat scratchy. I have cleaned it with contact cleaner and it helped but it probably needs to be replaced. Where can I find the correct pot?

I play mostly western swing and my main guitars have been a Martin D-18 and an Epiphone Casino. This H-575 really bridges the gap between these two guitars. I really like this guitar and will be probably back on here again with some more questions.

Thanks for all replies.

I haven't got figures for Heritage but I have specs for Gibson Factory setup which will be a good starting point.

Gibson factory setup --> Good setup

Neck relief at 7th Fret .012" (All strings) .004"

String height at 12th Fret bass E 5/64" 3/64"

String height at 12th Fret treble E 3/64" 3/64"

String height at nut

Bass E 2/64" . 015"

A 2/64" .014"

D 1.5/64" .013"

G 1.5/64" .012"

B 1/64" .010"

treble E 1/64" .009"

On the right are figures that are possible if you set it up carefully. Sorry if the alignment is all wrong.

The bridge grooves I reckon could be successfully sanded down. There is easily sufficient adjustment on the thumbwheels to raise the bridge to the same height, when some new grooves have been filed.

I've used the above specs to set up my 575 and I am pleased with it.

Hope that helps.

Sorry, forgot the salutation. Hi 10drum and welcome to the Forum. There's a great wealth of knowledge here and also a lot of fun, if you've got the time, or the inclination.

We always like pictures here so please post some pics of your 575. Yes the 575 is a really versatile guitar and pretty popular with many of the folks here.

Others will probably have information about the pots.

Set it up the way you like your guitars to be set up.

IMHO -- the Gibson factory specs are not good.

Welcome!

BTW -- please post a picture of your guitar
