DC Ron
Didn't know Mr Bassett, but his obituary in today's Washington Post shows him wailing on a Super Eagle with Johnnie inlaid on the pickguard. Here's a video. <iframe src="http://player.vimeo....3898?portrait=0" width="500" height="338" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe> <p><a href="http://vimeo.com/mackavenue">Mack Avenue</a> on <a href="
yoslate
Thanks for that post, DC! I'd seen Johnnie before, but I always dig hearing this kind of band...his style of playing. Tasty, understated, and a host of good players, falling deep into the pocket. Horn section and a B3...what I wouldn't give.... And check out the capo, on the Big Box! davesultra
Sad to hear. He was still actively playing in the Detroit area. I'd seen him playing live on a local Detroit morning news show just a couple of months ago. I'd said to myself I should go check him out. Sure wish I had. RIP Johnnie.
