H157 travel saga

I sold one of my H157s to a HOC member. He put some money down to hold it, just like some others did for guitar delivery at PSP.

The buyer paid it off and wanted shipment to Japan. No problem- except I screwed up. I shipped the wrong guitar.

I realized the mistake within a couple of hours, but the USPS could not shut the process down. They recommended the buyer refuse the package so that it would be returned to me.

About 6 days later it was delivered to the buyer, who promptly refused it. Off it went on the return trip. That was June 20th. It arrived to me this morning.

I shipped him the right guitar in June, and it arrived quickly once again.

So the point is that returns can take a very long time and there is no tracking whatsoever. I called every couple of weeks and was told it could take months to get it back. They were right. Adding to the stress is that the maximum insurance on the package was only $150.

Another part of the story is that there was a buyer for the guitar I just got back. He was coming to PSP to get it. I explained what happened and offered a refund. He told me he would be in the neighborhood of Kalamazoo in October and would pick it up then. That was a great relief to me, and I really appreciate the patience and understanding off all involved.

Here are the unpacking pix from this morning.

Looks to be in good shape? Amazingly long journey.

Interesting packing around the headstock. Is that shredder paper? I know you ship a lot and I may have to ship my first ever soon.

That was shredded paper. I firmly believe that the neck and headstock must be rigidly supported. I packed it tightly with shredded paper.

People, please please please..... read these words of wisdom!!!!!!
