First guitar

So one of the things on my bucket list has been to learn a musical instrument. One of my grandfathers collected guitars, and had around 20 when he passed away. After they were split up I had my choice and picked a heritage. I don't know much about guitars, it was by far the prettiest in the batch of 5 I could pick from. I'm currently looking into lessons.

I've learned some quick background on them on google, seems like a fun company, do they offer tours?

I need another hobby like I need a hole in my head right now, but this should be a fun thing to learn.

How can I post pictures of it?

Looks like an H-575 in antique natural with a single Schaller Humbucker and floating bridge & spruce top. I'm guessing your Grandfather liked to play jazz standards.

You'll get some really nice syrupy cleans out of her.

There are a lot of good instructional videos on-line that you can check out. Learn some chords and a few songs you like just to build up you callouses and feed your enthusiasm. Next step would be to find an instructor.

Good luck. I hope you enjoy your new hobby as much as I have. :happy11:

Holy Moly! Now that's the way to honor your grandfather's life. Best of luck with your lessons from another "beginner".

You're certain to get golden tones from that georgeous instrument.

You have begun at the apex of Heritage's model assortment (IMHO)! My #1 guitar is the same model, Love 'Em! Congratulations.

As an aside, sorry to hear about your Grandfather. He appears to have been a man of discriminating taste.

Welcome to the HOC!

nice choice. LIke learning how to drive in a Rolls Royce. Your grandfather would be happy to know that you are playing her. Indeed, a special guitar.

Thanks! I'm not sure on the music he was into, i have a really good memory and only remember meeting him 4 times. The last time was between 1991 and 1993 when he came to our house in ohio and I rode on the back of his motorcycle. The last time we spoke on the phone was around 1998. I'll have to ask some family members on what he was into.

[bruised jaw, from dropping] that is a beautiful guitar! you chose well. welcome!

Thanks!! I have at random went to it just to admire the beauty. It feels wrong to not know how to play it!!

That's a custom H-575 with the upgraded/optional Spruce top. Oh yea! Your grandfather had great taste.

I learned to drive on a new fourth gen trans am and took my test in a red targa vette, gotta hold the style! What makes it custom? He worked at a guitar shop in michigan until he moved to Arkansas in 95 (guitar is an03) or so where he started working at "Ronnie's guitar shop" I know nothing about the guitar and would love to hear the stories. Does the company keep any records on if he ordered it for him?

Out of curiosity, what kind of things do I need to do to keep it in good shape? Any maintenance? I'm guessing playing it is probably the best thing?
