The guitar has definitely been played quite a bit.

I have an Andy Timmons AT-1 (DP224) in the bridge, the stock Schaller in mid, and a Cruiser (DP186) in the neck. I have the original whammy arm, but I don't use it so I take it off and out of the way.

I was once told 17 were made.

I've been looking around the net for STAT DLX info and it appears they all are 1988 "E" code. Mine is a 1989 "F" code.... I wonder if it was done as a single rack run in mid-late 1988 into 1989?

After checking the serial number on the ebay guitar and the two serial numbers I could find in the "gallery" area here, my theory doesn't hold much water. It still appears the DLX are 88-89 but trickled out one at a time. Maybe the DLX was special order only? I don't see it offered in the catalog with the base model STAT.

Daves, are those toggle switch bats original on your Stat? I'd love something like that on mine.

The bridge pickup is a Fender Atomic Humbucker in zebra. When I got the guitar it had an ugly Carvin in there - don't like the black-on-black polepiece/bobbin combination. The Atomic works great in this guitar - sounds very like a Duncan JB, and is wound high enough to combine well with those Schaller singles in split-coil mode.

I love my STAT. I don't see it ever going away even with a skinny neck.

The DLX have the Kahler Spyder which is a floyd lic. trem.... pretty similar if not better than a Floyd. The Kahler Steeler is almost exact copy of the Floyd Rose, but the Spyder has more mass (sustain) and still has the floyd lic. saddles.

Wish I could find one of these but with a Floyd rose.i had a standard

If you look real hard for a long time you might find one in hard tail.
