So I bought the pretty red stat from Terry (holyroller) and it was a struggle to do the right thing. My daughter needed her wisdom teeth out and it came down to the guitar or her wisdom teeth. Like I said, I struggled but did the right thing and will soon be the proud owner of a red stat.

So I got the Stat on Friday and have not had a chance to gig with it as I like to learn a guitar before I play it live and there are a couple of minor tweaks I need to have done.

Anyway, on with the Stat story....I have mentioned in other posts how fond I am of the unique Heritages. I know LP,s, 335's, etc. and I love the Heritage version of the classics. However, one of my all time favorite guitars is my H-170. There is something totally cool and different about it. Same goes for this Stat. First of all, it is a C serial number so it is old as the hills on my grandma's chest. However, it is pretty much spotless, as Terry said it was, as it was really never played. I have a strat and also a MusicMan Cutlass, which is more Strat-y than my Fender. The Stat is totally different from a normal strat. Since it has the mahogany body and maple top, it is like a combination between a LP and a strat. The two single coils give it that nice strat vibe but it is much thicker and leans toward a Les Paul. I have to have the neck adjusted a little and plan on taking out the Schallers. The humbucker is not too bad but I have grown fond of the Dimarzio Transitions, which are the Lukather pup I have been using in another guitar. I am open to suggestions for single coil replacements but they have to be Dimarzio's for a personal reason. I was even considering putting a couple of humbuckers that fit in the single coil spots. Any ideas? Thanks again to Terry (holy roller) for selling it to me and making the sale go so smooth.

The only Stat Ive played didnt feel or seem overly straty.

Where a strat reminds me of older single banger enduro bikes the Stat reminded me of a big cruiser.

I really liked it but couldnt convince the guy to sell it to me.

A lil 59 or similar in the neck could be a cool thing.

Thanks everyone! I went with a Dimarzio chopper in the middle and a Satch Track in the neck. Larry turned me on to a Satch track prototype before they came out and I put one in a MusicMan Silhouette neck spot and it was nice and woody and full. I figured that it would do really well in a mahogany body like the Stat and the chopper will be a nice middle pick up. As I said in an earlier post, I am using a Lukather Transition in the bridge. This guitar is just so damn pretty I almost hate to play it. I am dreading my first ding....
