Open G / Keef Richards tuning.

I'm finally get to play some tunes in open G with the band. I'm using my Prospect for this. You may know that keef took the 6th string off when in open G because it's fairly useless. If I was to do that would it mess up the neck of the guitar? (truss adjustments assumed) I'm more worried about getting a twist in the neck or any damage to glue joints.

Any thoughts on this?

Tune the low e string 3 notes up to G so you have a G drone working for you, I've been playing like this for years no harm to the guitar no trussrod adjust needed it balances the tension from dropping the A and high E strings. go to 24:31 in this video and I'm playing in this G tuning...

Damn, why didnt I think of that. Thanks...  (great playing by the way)
