Leveled my frets, tried something different, it worked!

I have leveled my frets on the Goldtop for the 3rd time. I play hard, lots of bending and often, so frets don’t stay perfect for long on any of my guitars. One problem I have with tall frets is the strings developing ridges at each fret. Usually after one gig my strings are shot and I have to change them. This time I leveled them with a radius block as usual but took the frets down more than usual and did not crown them after. The result are wider frets that help spread the pressure on the string and not literally destroy the string. I played a 2 hour gig this morning and played it hard for a couple of hours the day before, about the same as one bar gig. No dents in the strings! It also made bending feel smoother BUT it also made a bit more finger contact with the fret board which is not so great for bending. In the end I dig the change and can live happily with a little give and take.
