that is a beauty! congratulations!

does the 530 have a center block south of the bridge? if not, I would stick with a floater B3/B6 etc

tension bar definitely helps keep the strings down on the bridge though, if it's a shallow angle

The 530 does not have a center block.  As I understand:

non tension bar Bigsbys are for high mount bridges (like the Tom on top of a bridge base.  Like my White Falcon)

tension bar Bigsbys are for low mount bridges, like a Tom on a 530, 535 or Gibson 330, 335

i looked at 330s and Casinos (both hollow bodies). From the factory they are coming with tension bar Bigsbys. Ala B7

You might want to rethink going with the B7, I had one installed on my H530 for a few months and couldn't stop knocking the low E out of the saddle anytime that I really dug in.

I thought about trying a B12 but wound up selling the guitar anyhow which I've frequently regretted doing since. The tone of these 530s is something special!

Either way, congrats on a real looker!

Curious, do mean a B7 with the tension bar and you were still having the string come off the saddle?

Yes.

Here's the one I had on my H530: http://www.bigsby.com/vibe/products/vibratos/bigsby-b7/

Please disregard everything I offered to this thread.  Sorry for the confusion.  After further review I've realized that I had a B-30 (no holes drilled, no tension bar)

  • 3 weeks later...

Just to circle back on this. This weekend will be it’s 4th gig. We are bonding quite quickly and well.  The Bigsby B-12 install went without a hitch.  This guitar is quickly becoming my go to.  (Yes I know the spring isn’t set correctly. Was rectified immediately afterI took the pic which was before I had played it with the B-12)
