bolero
I have a wooden H575 bridge that appears to be carved for a wound G string. Wondering if anyone else with a 575 uses a non wound G string? And if so, is the bridge made of wood? Thx! and let the thong & wood jokes commence...
ElChoad
I hate it when my G string is would too tight...
pressure
I have plain G strings on my Heritage Johnny Smith's with the original wooden bridges. It's hard to bend a wound G string and I always bend strings.

No. Every single guitar I have here has a wound 3rd - even the classical. The maple 575 has a rosewood bridge, the mahogany has a Nashville w/ wood base. It's a preference thing; YMMV. Wooden bridges aren't carved for a particular string type. The offsets between strings is a crapshoot and very seldom accurate. You should be able to swap in and out of a wound 3rd without augmenting the bridge. Intonation on a hollowbody is never very precise without a Nashville style bridge.
