As much as I'd like one, the new Custom Core Line up makes feels like how Heritage was to me 15 years ago; beyond my financial means. $5k for a guitar is so steep, I'm sure definitely worth it though.
I'd have to sell all four of my Heritages to get one of those; even then I wouldn't be happy because the design has a slim 60's neck profile. While I have gotten used to thinner necks, I rather enjoy the meatiness of my current lineup.
It’s a shame there was not a custom inlay to show its a 40th Anniversary model.
I totally agree huge mistake on their part. They could’ve put 40 on the 12th fret or something to commemorate it and to set it apart, other than the fact that you have to look at the serial number to know it’s a 2025 Guitar.I

The Triple Nickel is da BOMB! There are days I wish I had ordered that instead of the 157 way back when.
Oh well, that's the way it goes!
Sorry Rich you keep lamenting about that and I’m sitting here with two of them in my closet!! no you can’t have one

5 years ago, when I convinced Heritage to do the HOC Guitar, I had originally suggested a H140, they had already sold off the templates. I even talked about my H140 from 1985 to be the template of either an Anniversary model or a HOC guitar. My 140 was not a typical model, it had a bound ebony fretboard with mini-block inlays, inlaid "the Heritage" headstock, one piece flame maple top, and a belly carve.
Between sourcing one-piece tops, one-off building of the fretboards, and the lack of templates, it would have been too cost prohibited to even bring up.
Why would they sell off the templates and to whom?? Makes no sense

Thanks DetroitBlues. I think I have my wife convinced to go; she enjoyed Kalamazoo the last time we were there.
FYI- I purchased a 2016 new old stock H155M in vintage wine burst last year at the plant. It was hanging in the showroom and I couldn’t resist. They made me a very sweet deal. They buffed it, gave it a PLEK job, and a setup before shipping it out to me. Heritage takes care of their HOC constituents.

I also appreciate the functionality over function.
First question I have to ask is how's the neck? Newer Heritages have a nice beefy neck these days.
That's definitely nice one there, congratulations; hard to tell, is that ebony or oxblood?
Sweetwater had a special run of Oxblood H150 which was a rather difficult paint to get right from what I was told.
Hope you enjoy it!
Because the Ox population is dwindling.....

While surfing the inter-web, I found this ad for a Heritage Guitars coffee table book by Victor H. Dvorak. It was published in 2012! I never knew this existed!
I didn't order one ($82.00 is a bit hefty) but wanted to pass the info along to ya'll. Click on the link below for a page-by-page preview:

The Heritage Guitar, Inc.

Your kidding! Victor came to PSP that year and was actively marketing his book. I believe he secured quite a few orders. Its a great book, I didn't buy one ( I think they were about $40 back then). Haven't heard from him in a long time.....

What size do you want? How many pedals are you going to use? Are you going to be using a pedal looper system or only the pedals themselves? Do you want a 2 tier system? Do you want a hard lid or gig bag? Are you going to be using multiple power supplies?
I just finished a pedalboard rebuild that is HUGE and the cost was significant. My pedalboard weighs 40-45lbs. It is perfect for me for use at home with almost all my pedals available at anytime for recording use or just playing at home.
I think you need to be more specific to the questions above to get a recommendation.
What brand you using?

I just bought a nice mint condition Gretsch G 5420 T from a local fellow and he included in the deal a little Marshall MG 50 DFX amp. My first thought was what do I need this for? But once I plugged it in and played around with it it’s a nifty little amp that I think I will keep if not for any reason it’s a great practice amp. My other favorite go to, although it’s not really a modeling amp, is my deluxe, Reverb tone master. I absolutely love that amp. The versatility is amazing and it does sound like a deluxe reverb.

Well, considering there are not a lot of manufacturing differences for Heritage between the standard line and the custom core line, and considering they are pricing the custom core line anywhere from 1/2 to 1/3 more than the standards,... then I would say Heritage's profit margin is MUCH higher with the custom core line. And thus, fewer custom core guitars need to be sold to keep a higher profit over the standard line. Also, I think the custom core line has been a HUGE success. Of all the Heritage guitar owners groups forums (obviously here at HOC and on Facebook), the number of owners reporting a new custom core Heritage purchase BY FAR out weighs the number of new standard line Heritage purchases.
For me, the lighter weight on my Custom Core 150 has justified it's price. Last night, I played the Aged CC 150 comparing it to my Murphy Ultra Lite aged R9. Other than the different frets on the CC 150, I am not so sure the CC 150 is not a better guitar.... again, validating the price of the custom core line.
I am happy they are selling robustly! And I am glad you are enjoying yours as well. I just hope Heritage keeps manufacturing their standard line as I believe there is a market, they are great guitars in their own right. If I could afford a CC I would buy one. But being retired and on a fixed income has its limitations

Cause you can sell buttered bread for more that the ingredients alone.
Take coffee: A bag of beans is $6 for 10 ounces. Add hot waters and you can sell it for $5 for 12 ounces of mostly water. If you can make 30 cups out of 10 oz of beans that's $150 from a $6 investment.
That analogy is not completely accurate! As I said, I am not the bean counter for Heritage, but I would be willing to bet that their CC sales are less than 10% of their total sales. Now in terms of revenue, yes, they realize a larger profit margin % with the CC line. But think about all the international sales they do each month, and I am pretty sure they are mostly from the standard lineup. If you beg to differ, lets hear it!!

I’ve got a feeling the Standard USA model line is going away and only Custom Cores will be USA made…
I would have to disagree and say that if they did that, it would be the dumbest marketing move they could possibly make! Why get rid of your bread and butter? Granted, the Standard line is not cheap anymore, but the CC line is stratospheric in price! I think having an Asian line, an affordable USA Standard line and the CC (for the snobs, just kidding of course) is the right direction to go in. But hey, I am not the bean counter for Heritage, so I know nuttin.

I just snagged a mint Fulltone Fulldrive on Sweetwater gear sales page for $79 shipped. This replaces the 10th anniversary FD that Kuz sold me about 5 years ago, destroyed in the flood.

I felt the same way. But this one is really easy to program and work with. I just don't see the point of going back to an analog setup. However, this does have an effects loop for the few pedals that this doesn't have. I have some inexpensive modulation pedals from Amazon that produce some really unique sounds. They only run about $35 each. But two of those gives me most of the functions of a good guitar synth pedal. And I can add them to any patch that I want. Fun stuff.
That’s awesome!

I have never used that GX-10 but having a zillion Boss FX for that price is great. I use Line 6 and Quad Cortex for FX and they are all great. I have messed with Headrush and Ampero and liked them too. Boss has to be great or they would be pushed out, given all of the great competition. Why anyone would spend $400 on a couple of Boss pedals when you can get the same pedals plus a shit ton more for the same price is beyond me.
BTW, I like the music you are learning. It will be fun trying to cop those sounds. But you have the gear to pull it off!
Some people just like the flexibility of having individual pedals that was my case before six months ago. I think I had probably about 10 Boss pedals or more all strung horizontally across on a peddle board . I just don’t like those all in one type of effect units they never are easy to use in my opinion.

Most all of my pedals which were Boss were destroyed in the September 20 24 hurricane flood waters. Including the paddleboard, which was also a boss. I’m slowly rebuilding my pedals and I’m open to suggestions to use for a board. I’m looking at earthboard that’s the one that uses the magnetic rails supposedly? And it’s battery powered or rechargeable? I don’t know a whole lot of about it, but I see their ads constantly anybody have any experience with that one? TYIA

Congratulations Monica hey listen I’m trying to assemble a new peddle board since the boss paddleboard I had with most of all of my Boss petals was destroyed in the flood water/September. I’m slowly rebuilding my pedal collection, which is not gonna be very extensive, but tha assist, I will need a peddle board of some type. Do you have one for sale?

For years I’ve strung my H550 with Thomastik GB Flatwound 12s. They are expensive but last 3-4 times other strings and sound great, always. Very easy playing, consistent and great tone. I use 14s on my Super KB, but have never tried 14s on the 550 because the 12s sound so good, warm, round but also a little sweet. Very 60’-70’s jazz archtop. The band digs it.
I went to change out the old 12s for a new set today….But…i was out of the 12s. Never thought to put 14s on the 550; that was all i had and the old strings were already half off. So….14s went on the 550.
Wow. What a difference! The guitar sounds bigger in every way. A little darker, fuller and just more. I was really surprised that it made that big a change in fullness and voice of the guitar. Not as effortless to play, but not a huge change in fretting or picking force required, just takes a little more oomph all around.
14s will stay on and maybe be the norm for this 550 from now on. Gig on Friday, so we’ll see…
I’m sure it affected the set up. Did you change it?

My DR tone master has a built in attenuator goes from 1 watt to full power. Works great and no need for an outboard unit.

There was a reason when the old guard retired, Heritage only made the 535 and 150's and discontinued or limited production of archtops. They opened to Sweatwater and other large retailers and cut off lots of brick and mortar, mom and pops stores. They were looking at the bottom line. The time and expense of building one-off for Boomers and dealing with expectations of same was altruistic and a money suck. Having a website promising future "bespoke" and making the occasional for a high-profile player and influencers is smart marketing. I was fortunate to have my builds made in 2009, 2011 and 2013. Those days are gone forever over a long time ago, oh well!
Good point Dan. I got mine too while the gettin was good!!!

I have one from every PSP starting with #2. I don't know if there was one for the 1st PSP. One year wasn't a tee shirt, it was blue with buttons, if I recall. I would need to go up and root through the closet to see.
A few years we even had hats.
Except none fit you anymore!!
