I wonder what they have done that is different from the standard line, other than the headstock size, inlays, pickups and pick guard.
Price dude!!!

Thanks for posting this Dave. My 574 is identical, also vintage orange, just one year newer. This one is a “G” serial mine is an “H”.

I have an H-574 (1991) with original Schaller pickups, which just don’t sound good to my ears. I am looking to replace them with pickups suitable for jazz playing. Lots of pickup gurus on here, please chime in with your recommendations!!!!

I find myself playing a 535 regularly at home. One of my four 5*5’s is always on a stand to conveniently grab. Can’t argue with the sound, feel, balance, playability.

That looks like my son's signature. It amazes me that so many folks just sign with a scribble like that. Maybe it's because schools quit teaching script. It's either print or scribble. I've seen people sign government documents like that, like a passport. Does anybody use a real signature these days? It's not like you're signing 50 autographs while wading through a crowd on the way to your limousine.
Your son works at Heritage now???

Hey John, glad to see you back posting!!! I tried to call you a few times this week just to wish you happy holidays so let me do it here, HAPPY HOILDAYS to you and yours!!!
I still have the Kleins in my Firebird, and they ain't going nowhere! And you know, the Firebird is Gibson's answer to the Tele
I'm glad you like the pickin' because that song is now one of the live songs in my new bands set-list It's the first one I wrote for the band. Our drummer was telling me how much he loved bacon, that's where the name came from. It was fun to work up a full on Tele instrumental!
His official hiatus sure didn’t last long! 😊

I got together with a couple of friends again this afternoon to play some tunes. Mostly I've been taking my H140. Once I took my G&L ASAT. A couple of weeks ago, I took my G&L Legacy. I like the way they all play. They sound pretty darn good, although the guys commented that the Legacy sounded "thin". Yeah, it's a SSS, so it doesn't have the beef on the bottom. I haven't taken the 157 or Millenium, and while I took the 525 once as a backup, it never got out of the case.
Today, I took my H535, the one with the new machine heads. After playing for almost 3 hours, I have to say that if I had to pick a favorite, that would be it. I don't know what it is about that guitar, but it sounds good, to me, it plays like a dream, it's got great upper fret access, and it's comfortable to hold for 3 hours (well 2 3/4 after taking a short bourbon break). It looks sexy as hell with that nice Faded Cherry finish.
There's nothing that guitar can't do. I even did some finger picking on Helplessly Hoping!
It's a winner!
Trans cherry beats faded cherry all day long for sexiness. Oops, did I just say trans?

Nothing wonky here.... I just got my 1 year badge!!! Yippie. 😁
Now I need to go out guitar shopping for a friend that wants to get his nephew an electric guitar for Christmas. There's an Ibanez RG, a Kramer Baretta for around $150, an Epi SG Special for $160 and a used Gibson Johnny A for $5000 at the local MusicGoRound. That should give him a couple of choices, eh?
What’s up with your badge obsession?

I use USAA’s valuable personal property policy- they don’t require a professional appraisal. I just list the value based on current market transactions.

Fab guitar. I think asb refers to " Antique Sunburst". There might be a sticker under the control plate with this information.
No Richard that’s almond sunburst.

A couple of the tuners on my 535 are getting flakey. The high E seems to be seizing up somewhat, it gets really hard to turn. The D seems to drift, which makes tuning vary after only a song or two.
So, I've been looking at tuners to replace the stock Grovers which I'm pretty sure they are just the 102 Rotomatics. I've been considering going to locking tuners, and have narrowed the candidates down to Grover 502 Rotogrips, Gotoh Magnums, or Graphtech PRL-8341 Ratios.
One thing that I DON'T want is to have to redrill anything on the headstock. Anyone have experience with the Ratio tuners? I like the idea of consistent turns for tuning. They come with plates that match up to the original holes. Plus, you can get Ratios with keystone buttons instead of the kidney beans, which I would like to have, but they are more expensive. Obviously the Grovers are a drop in replacement. How about the Gotohs? Are they are drop in replacement? I can't seem to find the spacing between the mounting hole and the screw (0.413 inches). Has anyone used them?
Any other candidates that might work?
You should move it out of your garage. That environment probably took a toll on it!

Not knocking the CC’s but the more models they introduce, the more I am happy that I have acquired a nice arsenal of the standard models over the years, all purchased at a fraction of the cost of a CC!

Beautiful. I have a 535 same finish.

Yeah, the LP obsessives go nuts if the binding isn't the right color, or marker dots aren't perfect. Is the neck fat enough? Is the wiring vintage? Is the tenon deep enough?
535/335 players just pick 'em up, plug 'em in and PLAY!
When I would walk into Dee Wells Music School at the tender age of 11, I didn't even look at the Les Paul, or the hollow bodies or acoustics. My eyes went straight to the 335. That's what I wanted! It took me a long time to get my red semi, but I've got it now and I play it. It's great!
They would need to do something super special for a CC to be a lot better than the standard 535. I would rather they just bring back the 555, for those of us who like some bling.
Bigger headstock, the little spear like insignia in the center of the headstock and the Heritage logo (sans “The” ) - that’s not enough for you to pay $4K?
