  1. Welcome Rodrigo!! that 535 is a beaut!! Now I know I want one for sure!!
  2. Mornin Folks..Last night I pulled out the old H-140 and put on Neil Young's "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" I jammed along to "Down By The River"..I ran my Tube Screamer through my old Gibsonette amp..WOW..I was transported back to the early 70's..The thing sounded thick and smooth, with just the right amount of bite..I felt like I was 18 again..It is so nice to find a guitar that I really Love..Haven't felt that way in years..Heritage Rocks!!!..
  3. I need to replace the tuners on my 140, a couple of them like to slip quite a bit..I will keep the originals in case I ever want to sell it..(Highly unlikely) What are the chances that after 20+ years the tuners is actually stuck on the finish? If so, how do I loosen them..Maybe I am worrying about something that will never happen, but I guess I just want to make sure I do it right..Any thoughts? thanks..
  4. Hey Tulk1, thanks for that..I have no intention of altering my guitar, but the P-rails do sound interesting..I just wonder if it is trying to be all things to all people..I really like the mellowness of the stock pickups though..I am working on playing a "gig" at a local bookstore with some friends, and the H-140 seems to blend well with the D-18 the other guitarist has..Have a good one ..PS I'm still working on getting some decent pics of my "Baby" LOL Hopefully soon..Smurph
  5. Ok, another question..By the way thanks for the info about the A series guitars..What are P-rails? My H-140 seems to be completely stock..It's an 85, so does it have P-rails? I'm guessing it's a type of humbucker..Any help on this? Thanks Smurph
  6. Question..Sometimes I wish I wasn't so curious..In '85, why did they start with a "B" series instead of "A"..Just wondering..
  7. Thanks for the info on how to post my guitars and amps..Have a good one!
  8. Hey..What do I need to do to list the guitars I have in my profile? I tried going to my information, and adding it that way, no luck..can someone help me out?
  9. Amen to COD65..I suffered through many a lackluster Gibson, trying to find the Les Paul my girlfriend's dad had in 1972..Never did find it, but got a BETTER guitar with my H-140..That sweet Allman Bros tone in spades!! Gibson is trying to keep the boys upstairs happy, while forgetting about who really matters..The Guitarist..Tom Petty's song "The Last DJ" not only applies to radio, but to corporate structure also..If you haven't heard it, pick it up..It is some of his best stuff in years..
  10. Welcome thumbs..I dig your moniker..I have some news, Looks like in March I will be going to Parsons Street..I toured it in the 70's when it was owned by that "Other" Company..I have friends up there and they are so fired up about my B series H-140 that we are all taking a trip from Lansing over to Kalamazoo..Should be pretty cool..Also hopefully on Friday I should get some pic's of my Git-fiddle..If can just figure out how to post 'em..Maybe my friend can help me with that..But anyway..Have a good day, Keep pickin and grinnin..Smurph
  11. Hi Smurph1 here, I'm a bit confused by this whole message board, but I think I have the right place now?..Hopefully..LOL..My guitar is a 140 model made in 1985...The Serial # is B04703, which means it was made on November 14, The third guitar made that day..Is that right? You guys do the math..I think it's right..LOL..Have a good day..
  12. Hey Smurph1 here...Found out my guitar is a Model 140..The serial # is B04703, which means it was made in 1985, Nov 14, 3rd guitar made that day..I used the formula 365 minus the 47 in the serial to arrive at the date in November..It is nice to learn these things..
  13. I have a girlfriend who has a digital camera, maybe I can sweet-talk her into taking some pics of my guitar..The 'burst has a nice flame to it..
  14. LOL.. Twisted sense of humor, I will feel right at home here!!
  15. By the way, I can't really do anything about being a hillbilly..(It's hereditary) LOL
  16. Thanks for that..I feel better..My Heritage is sunburst, with the SHARP horn and chrome covered 'buckers..Tone for days..Just unbelievable..Makes most Gibsons made nowadays sound like a Squier..It is a Les PAul shape, but it seems a bit thinner..(Not a backbreaker) I think it is a 150 model..Has a bound body and neck (Creme) but not the headstock..The night I got it, I woke up and went over and opened the case, just to make sure I wasn't dreaming!!LOL
  17. Hey..Smurph1 here, I don't want to be a pain, but I don't have a digital camera to take photos..Does that mean I can't participate? I would really like to be a part, I just bought my '85 Heritage less than a week ago..I am curious to learn more about these awesome guitars..Any Ideas, opinions? I don't wanna be on the outside looking in just because I don't have a camera..It's a tough economy out there..Thanks Smurph1
  18. It has a hard horn..One quick question..I don't have a camera, I'm just a poor ol hillbilly! What do I do about that?
  19. Hey Ya'll..I'm Smurph1 and I live in West By Gosh Virginia.. I recently stumbled into a great deal on a '85 Heritage..Not sure what model it is yet..It looks like a 'Burst Les Paul..Tone to the bone..Traded a couple of unused amps, a Gibson Les Paul BFG, and a small amount of cash..even up for it..I am absolutely ecstatic!! Have hardly slept for thwo days..This is the way the old "Holy Grail" Gibsons must have sounded..I will share more as I find out more..any ideas on what model it is?
