ashaffer
Hi everyone! My name is Al and I was surprised and happy today to find this site. I have been telling people about Heritage guitars for what seems like a very long time now since I first saw one at a guitar show in Montgomery Co. MD at the fairgrounds. I have owned 4 different models and still own two currently. I have quite a few other guitars/basses and the Heritage brand ranks very high in the pecking order. Here is a photo of my H-550, Golden Eagle, and H-535 (sold to a good friend now). http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x94/al_shaffer/Guitars/ba4c.jpg[/img] The Golden Eagle has a handmade Kent Armstrong floating PAF and Benedetto ebony tailpiece and finger rest replacing the original Heritage gear. The H-550 holds it's own with my friend's vintage L-5 CES and is perhaps the best feeling fretboard of any of my 25 or so other guitars. Here are the lovely backs: http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x94/al_shaffer/Guitars/26cd.jpg[/img] And one last one of the Golden Eagle: http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x94/al_shaffer/Guitars/299d.jpg[/img] I saw another new post by a local DC area fellow named Roy, are there any other MD/DC/VA owners here? Glad to be here! -Al

Roy Brooks
I am from your neck of the woods. I moved to Beltsville, MD from Charleston, SC about a month ago.
ashaffer
Hey Roy, one of my best friends is a long time Charleston SC musician/teacher named Paul Gelpi. Do you by chance know him? I love Charleston! Years ago I thought I would end up marring a girl down there and living on the Isle of Palms. I'm living in Germantown now and I grew up in Catonsville. You probably don't know the area well enough yet to know all the places Great to meet you. -Al

Dick Seacup
I see you've already met the welcoming committee. So, I'll just say...I've reconsidered my opinion of the round-horn single-cut guitars. I was looking at pictures of an old Tal Farlow model (yes, the G-word!) today and if Heritage could throw that little inlay curlicue in on the horn... ashaffer
Dick, I know what you mean. Here's my Custom Shop Tal Farlow. I really like the curlicue. I was able to meet Tal before he died and sat in the front row of a duo performance with a bass player at the King of France in Annapolis MD. It was my birthday and Tal was gracious enough to give me an autographed setlist from the evenings show and then we went to the bar and shared a drink and more conversation. He was a true gentleman! 063007 Gibson Tal Farlow 044_sm.jpg 063007 Gibson Tal Farlow 044_sm.jpg_thumb
