brentrocks
I tried a set of NOS GE 6L6s in my Chicago Blues box tonight. I also put a NOS rectifier tube in it. The CBB amps have internal bias pots, so i hooked up my meter to see what kind of voltage the stock Sovtech tubes were running....503 volts. After installing the GEs, i bumped the bias up to 515 volts...i figure the NOS tubes can handle it. There is a very noticable difference in the tone...the cleans are a lot clearer. The amp is a lot more pick sensative, notes ring out much fuller now. Here is the amp.... The Tubes....

H
Finding them is easy. Finding working ones is harder. Finding working good ones is harder still!

H
So, in other words, many NOS tubes are actually POS?! Yep Sooner or later all this NOS stuff is going to be used up. It's a real lottery already attempting to find decent tubes :-/
