  1. Hi my name is Sven i'm from germany and i have a h150. I don't know we exact model. But it's 9ne of the best guitars i've ever played.

    Hello,

    New member here,

I am the proud owner of a Lefty Custom Shop Heritage 535 with Seth Lovers and a Wine Red finish.

    I love Heritage Guitars!

I am currently looking for a left 575 if anyone has any leads!

    WELCOME!! Great to have you!

  2. Hello All,

I hope I'm not cheating in joining the Heritage owners club today, because I don't own one....yet. (I do have a 1967 Gibson LG0 my Dad bought for me new, and it might have been made in Kalamazoo FWIW)

Anyway, I just started playing guitar about 4 months ago again after MANY years. I didn't play much back then either, just lessons for a year or so as a kid, and for a few months in the Army. I have 2 lower end guitars and promised myself if I stayed with it through September I would upgrade to a LP or similar. I'm having a good time in an instructional band and getting better so I'm researching now and I'll be shopping soon.

I live in MI and I like the Heritage story. Heritage owners seem to love their guitars, and I've seen some good deals on used ones, more reasonable than the Gibson brand. Open to suggestions about what to look for, where to try some first, etc. I'll check in here to see what is posted, and might ask questions. In the meantime I'll enjoy all your posts.

    Welcome, future Heritage guitar owner!

  3. I acquired a 1999 H575 a few months ago. I have played various Heritages in the past, but this is my first purchase. This babie has been well played, but not abused. I've left it out since I got it and it almost has lost the miasma of tobacco, whiskey, and sweat. It has had a headstock repair and shows lots of fret wear, but is clean and has been well maintained. As far as I can determine, it is totally stock. It is one sweet playing instrument with some mojo, and I like it bunches. My playing interest is primarily Jazz.

    H575_2_zps2dfd8845.jpg

It's clean as long as you don't pay any attention to the tobacco, whiskey, sweat, headstock repair and fret wear. hahahaha I got a chuckle out of that.

    Welcome!! Welcome!!! Good looking guitar!

  4. Denny here, aka Keysey. I played my first heritage and everything else I own became obsolete. In a short span I bought a gorgeous Super eagle but it was way to pretty to take out to gigs and jam nights so I bought a 575 for open mike and jam sessions. Different guitars for sure with diff voices, but both a FANTASTIC! Sell off many of my now excess guitars, flat tops and strats. I have lived near Kzoo most of my life, but spent 12 years in the keys playing acoustic flat tops. Back in Michigan and I`m just getting to old to play anything but the best, plus I can now afford my passions. Two of them is probably one more than I really

need, but no where close to as many as I want.

    Welcome!

  5. Hi all

New member here - a Brit who has expatriated to Sydney, Australia.

I bought a 2006 Heritage H-150 (almond burst I believe) yesterday and am over the moon with the quality, feel, sound and general vibe of the guitar - so much so that I sought out this forum!

I saw this hanging on a wall in a Brisbane shop while working up there last week and it definitely winked at me - I swear. This week I went back intending just to kill some time and it told me that I had to take it home. Having recently purchased another guitar (JTV Variax) I knew that this was going to be a tricky negotiation with my better half but the quality of this guitar combined with the relative rarity of Heritage guitars in Australia convinced me to take action. As I explained to my wife, "last week I bought a beer, this week I bought a cognac.. you just can't compare them".

Anyway, I'm sure my story will resonate with a few guys out there - and maybe a few guitar playing girls too.

    Cheers

    David

Welcome! That is a great looking guitar!!

  6. Hi all,

newbie from Holland here, and proud H150 owner since... yesterday! :-) I used to be a Fender guy (I like to play my Tele, Strat and Jazzy), and tried a Gibson Midtown and LP Traditional in the past, but without much luck. I just couldn't bond with either of the two abd sold them. Yesterday I bought a very nice H150, and it feels just right. It needed a restring (0.009" --> 0.011"), pickup hight adjustment and a neck setup, and I believe this is just the sweetest blues and rock guitar I ever owned. Plugged into my '69 Super Reverb even very suitable for funky rhythm guitar. Plugged into my Budda Superdrive it's a rock monster. Very happy camper so far, hope to read lots of tips & tricks here at the forum!

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Very good! Welcome!

  7. Hi,

I'm Roy. I've been wanting a 535 for probably 10 years. I finally bought an 04 model on ebay. It never arrived yet so I'm like a kid on Cristmas eve! It needs a little work so it'll be off to the luther and I'll have to wait some more.

Welcome Roy! 535's are awesome! You might try asking the club here if anyone has any recomendations for luthiers or good PLEK operators who can work on your guitar.

  8. Hello,

I guess I didn't see this special invitational area when I eagerly joined to tell everyone about my new H 110 what ever that stands for. Nice guitar. I'm a transfer student from the HFC and I hope to learn from all of you here. I am still attending the HFC though and still learning every day.

I started playing guitar in my teens in the 70's. Played Classical guitar in the early 80's and then quit because I had to make a living and pay rent since I married so young. I had some time on my hands in the mid 90's and got into Hamers and learning to play again for a few years. Then quit again to concentrate on other things.

Two-and-a-half years ago I sold my boat (sad day) and that evening joined the HFC to buy a guitar I could never have afforded before. Taking some of the boat money I bought a Monaco Elite (LP style) and it was the best guitar ever. Learning to play again was slow and painful and was something I didn't really have the heart for. But I stuck with it and here I am. I still can't play well by any means but I have perfect pitch and can play along with David Gilmour and other favorites. Then when the song is over I have no idea what I just played. What a gift, eh? Yeah, right. But I have learned a few songs note for note probably the most notable to us old guys is Hocus Pocus by Focus. That's one I couldn't figure out completely by ear and had to get some help from the interwebs.

That's me in a nutshell. At least the guitar stuff.

ETA: My other hobby is drinking too much cheap beer.

I hope you already feel welcome by now. That is a great Heritage guitar you bought recently!

  9.

This might be a dumb question but is there somwhere on this forum where you can eaisly search the topics?

    Hi Carter, welcome!

Yes, navigate to the appropriate category and then use the search field at the top of the page to search that particular section. Try to use relevant key words individually for better results.

  10. I have a look at this forum every day. An introduction is overdue.

My name is really Rod. Perhaps if I come up with a more imaginative username the moderators will let me change it. (?) About a year ago I asked the luthier I use to recommend a Les Paul style guitar brand/builder for a guitar that I envisioned would become an heirloom. He said he'd recommend Heritage and Collings over Gibson. That when I came to this forum for the first time. You guys tell a pretty compelling story. Your passion for Heritage guitars is contagious.

I think it was only about a week or so later that I bought my first off Ebay. An '87 model 170 that was excellent in every way. I've been a Heritage fan ever since! My next was a 150 Ultra with HRW's, then a 157 Black Beauty that now has Seth Lovers (something else I learned of from this forum).

In between my other two acquisitions I sold the 170 to someone who has also become a Heritage fan and who has since acquired another Heritage (that I wish I'd gotten!).

I'm a very active follower of the forum. My thanks to whoever it is who is responsible. I'll be an infrequent contributor. Fact is, you guy's knowledge and skill surpasses mine. I'm here to learn and find my next Heritage.

Welcome Rod! Yes, it is possible to have your visible "handle" changed. Pick a good one and leave it that way so people like me won't get too confused.

Greetings, everyone. My name is Alec. I am a recent convert to the world of Heritage guitars. I've yet to own one, though i am on the cusp of purchasing an H555. I play in a psychedelic black metal band called Kosmodemonic, and i have a project of my own, which i have named Ghostbound until i come up with a better name.

I describe Ghostbound as "Crowded House gone metal", and i want an H555 in an effort to unleash my inner Geordie Walker (in that he played heavy music on an otherwise non-heavy instrument), as well as for jazzy/clean/ambient textures.

    Greetings and welcome Alec!

  11. I am a new member. I am the proud owner of one of the most beautiful guitars ever made. I bought this SAE-Blue Translucent, that is currently rotating on the Heritage Gallery in 1997 . I Had this guitar home for a month and my kids knocked it off of the stand and broke the head stock in half. (lesson learned. ALWAYS KEEP GUITAR IN CASE!!!) I had it repaired and it is always my number one choice when playing. I didn't realize that Heritage was still in business till a few weeks ago. I was at a jam and the house band guitarist asked me what kind of guitar I had. He looked at the head stock and said Vantage. I said no it's a "Heritage"!! He said "same thing" I immediately corrected him. "NO, they're not the same" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uccADrR93gA I played it through the house Fender Twin. I came home and decided to google it just to see how many were still out there and that's when I saw all those beautiful guitars on their website. STILL IN BUSINESS and obviously going strong. I will be going to Kalamazoo this summer to get myself another. I think they will be my only guitars from now on. Awesome works of art and astounding sound makes them elite and I can't truly express my love for my Heritage unless you listen to the sound.

Thanks for the opportunity to express my appreciation to the Heritage company and all of you loyal Heritage owners.

Welcome! Many of us will be in Kzoo this summer too. Maybe we'll see you at a PSP event soon!

  12. Hi all!

I am Alex and come from Asia City Hong Kong.

I just purchased h140cm yesterday. I really love it!

It is my 1st serious decision coz I need a professional guitar for upcoming tour on big stage and festival.

Thanks for the heritage guitar luthier! U guys are amazing!

    Welcome!!

  13. Ok, I've been lurking on this site long enough now that I figure I better introduce myself or nobody will want to deal with me when I finally find a guitar on here.

I guess I came here by way of 225 Parson's Street. This past fall, my 9 year old daughter enrolled in the Kalamzoo Academy of Rock and their practice space is located in the upstairs of the old factory. As most of you know, it's a super cool old relic of a building with greyed out old school windows that just feels like a place you should be rocking out at. They have a blast there and I think the ambiance is part of the attraction of the whole thing.

Every week when I take her to band rehearsal, I smell the lacquer curing from the other side of the walls. At some point, I think the lacquer got to me because I started obsessing over Heritage Guitars and how great they look and play.

I jumped on here and started trying to learn everything I can about these guitars. For a company that only puts out a few guitars at a time, there sure are a ton of variations in models, and even the variations seem to have variations, which is awesome. There are some manufacturers that give you the choice of burst, red, and black and that's it. I prefer unique stuff. I'd like her to be able to play something that was made in the same building. Since there aren't a lot around in stores to try out, it's tough to know what I'm going to like and not like. I've seen plenty of deals go by, but haven't pulled the trigger yet because I've never bought a guitar off of the internet before. I'll have to get over that fear at some point I guess and bring at least one of these things back home to Kalamazoo.

Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for posting such useful information about these wonderful instruments here. I've learned a lot and look forward to joining the club soon.

Welcome! I'm sure that if you do some looking you'll find some Heritage guitars to try out. There are always a lot of Heritage guitars for sale in Michigan. Just gotta look. :)

  14. Hi my name is Ryan I live in Kalamazoo MI I have been playing off and on since I was 16. I stopped playing for 10 years and I am just now getting back into it at the age of 33. I had relatives that worked for Gibson back when it was in Kalamazoo. I do not own a Heritage YET I am currently working on that but i do have a set of HRW's I just purchased that will go into my custom H-157. I guess I am doing this a bit backwards.

    That works. Welcome!

  15. Hi All,

My name is Artem, I'm 30 and play since my 10. I play blues, funky tunes, r'n'r. I live in Russia and even more, deep in Siberia in Novosibirsk. About year ago I noticed new guitar on my friends concert. It was Heritage H535 with Bigsby. Only year later I asked my friend to give me this guitar for few days to try. I should note - Heritage is VERY rare guitar in Russia. So I'm really lucky I got H535 to test myself at home connected to my amp. I was absolutely braindamaged by this sweet lady. So now I proudly have (for a week by now) 2004 Heritage H535 plain top in burnt amber with Wolftone Dr. Vintage. At this moment I use my "BIG brother" - Vox AC30 with Mercury Magnetics transformers inside and together with H535 they sound like angelic singing to my ears. I only regret that I haven't bought Heritage guitar earlier. It is brilliant, absolutely. Gentlemen form Heritage, if you ever will read this: Thank You! You gave me voice!

    Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

    H535's are fantastic instruments!

  16. Hi All,

My name is Dan, handle is grandpappy. I'm originally from Albany area of NY, but have lived in the beautiful Valley of the Sun for the past 32 years.

On Jan 4th, 2014 I traded my beloved 76 Les Paul Deluxe for a 99 H-535 in Natural. I've had the LP since 84.

The LP was just getting too heavy for my old back plus I felt I needed a change, so w/ tears in my eyes I traded her, for the Heritage and a decent amount of scratch.

I've always wanted a high end semi hollow body and boy this H-535 fits the bill!

It's in very good shape (9.5 out of 10) for it's age. All stock. Frets good. She plays and sounds like a dream.

I never played a Heritage before I traded, but had heard all the raves over the years.

Looking forward to reading all the posts on the Heritage Owners Club web site!

    Thanks

    Welcome!

  17. I recently acquired an H-535 (AWB) and I could not be more pleased. I also own the following:

    • 1968 Gibson ES 345 TDW

    • 1987 Strat Plus

    • 1957 Custom Shop CC Strat (2013)

    • 1952 AV Telecaster Hod Rod (2012)

    • Breedlove Focus SE (2011)

    • Martin D-18 (2013); and,

I will tell you that nothing has the tonal range and sustain exhibited by my new H-535. The Vintage Wineburst finish is simply beauty to behold. Actually, it combines the best of the two things which I could not make up my mind, and wanted most — 1959 Gibson 335 Cherry Red, or a 1959 Sunburst.

I was having the Tele setup and had no intention of buying another guitar (I always wanted a Gibson 335 and it was on my bucket list — don’t know why I instead purchased the 345 way back when). Anyway, tried the H-535 at Wolfe Guitars while waiting for the paperwork on my Tele. I sat and played the 535 for 3 hours and couldn't put it down. I kept looking for an excuse to leave the store, but finally had to get home, so I relented and took the 535 (or, did it take me?). Explained to my wife that I was furniture shopping and found this added decor for the house.

This is a keeper and something I will pass down to future generations.

Jim Compilongo, Danny Gatton, Willie Nelson, Tab Benoit, Deborah Coleman, and yes, Clapton, Peter Green, Hendrix, SRV, Dave Weiner and everyone else who can make me wish I could play this thing.

Post photos of the 535 or it never happened. ;)

  18. Hi!

Posted some pics of my Heritage in the gallery prior to reading the invite...

I'm a Scot based in Sweden and my Heritage started out life in somebodies basement in the US as a H140CMV body that had left the factory by some way or another. By all accounts as there was some paint on the edges of the fretboard, which means it must have been poorly taped up when being built. It ahs a serial # without a 2 and it has an amazing burst. Quality guitar. As it came as a body only she now wears EMGs and the switches are boosters, phase switch and a dummy switch for anything in the future( running 18V). Lock down Tone pro fixes the tail and bridge. hell of a build quality, wood quality and sound off this guitar from 1988.

haven't see many pics or info on these H140CMV guitars so that's why I joined up.

Looking forwards to reading and looking at other Heritage guitars as they are crackin'!

    Cheers,

    Gonzo

I just joined today. I found the link from the Heritage Guitars website.

I bought a used H-535 that is still in the 30 day impound at a local shop until Feb 7, so I cannot really gush about it yet.

I started playing guitar when I turned 50 and consider myself a hack (8 years a hack).

I have always had a thing for ES type semi hollows, but they have been out of my price range usually. I bought a used Epi Elite ES-335 about 7 years ago, but later sold it and bought a G***** 339, which I didn't like as much as the Epi.

So perhaps it was kismet, but I stopped by the local GC last week and they had an H-535 in natural finish in the "vault" room. Looks to be a 2000 build with Schaller roller bridge and tailpiece. I have no idea what p/u's are in it.

Played really well in the store, so I plunked down the cc.

Really looking forward to trying it out at home. My collection now is a Yamaha acoustic and THR10C amp, Rickenbacker 360 & 360/12C63, 74 Fender Deluxe Reverb, Vox AC30HW2X and assorted pedals

    WELCOME!

  19. Hey all, my name is Bob. I just bought a H-575 this morning around 9:30.I'm still messing around with it and found this website. I tried uploading a picturre but the file size is too large.I had no intention of buying a guitar today or in the forseeable future for that matter. Let alone a somewhat pricey one at that. I was checking out Craigslist this morning and there she was. Bam, pretty looking git. I e-mailed the owner through Craigslist, he e-mails me back and I realize I had met this guy before. I met him at my friends' cabinetry shop. I had brought A ribbon cherry, stave shell snare that I made for him to check out. See, I'm a drummer and I make my own drums. Stave shell drums. I'm retired now due to back problems. I decided to start taking guitar lessons about a year and a half ago. I've always wanted to play guitar. I also really love jazz. So we have quite a recipe for fun and frustration. Trying to learn jazz guitar starting at 59 yrs. old. I saw that jazz box this morning and my heart went boom, boom, boom. I'm still noodling around on it and it's 12:23 a.m. I have a Traynor YGM3 amp and a Campbell American Transitone. OK, enough of my babbling, I'm really liking my H-575, goodnight.

Welcome! 575's are really cool guitars!

And I'll call dibbs on one of your hand made snare drums in the event you ever sell one or make any more. There are a few of us here in the HOC who started out in life as a drummer and worked our way into picking up a guitar.

Photos need to be reduced in size before they will fit as an attachment or you can set up an account with http://imageshack.us/ (for example) and use the picture button here to paste the direct link URL to the photos you upload to imageshack.

  20. Good morning to everyone...

My name is Gilles, lives near Paris and not yet owner of an Heritage but around looking for a 140 (or maybe a 150)

I have known the forum through Brent participation within the HFC (I do own an Hamer Artist Korina and Brent is an active member as well of the HFC)

The spirit being more or less within those pages, very happy to join you...around the US quality on those guitars (and may Heritage continue to work on those models independently).

Welcome! H150's seem to be the most popular. They are great!

On a side note, there is a girl in France named Laura Cox who makes a lot of guitar videos.

I sent her a note one time about trying a Heritage guitar for some of her videos, but she explained that she is in France and getting one to try might be a bit difficult.

  21. Hey, Anthony here from Anaheim, CA. So today I finished paying my first Heritage guitar (H-535) that I had out on lay away at my local music store. Man I just want to say that these guitars are amazing and it feels so cool to be part of such an awesome guitar community. Thank you to the people at Heritage for your fine craftsmanship!

The 535 is the last guitar that you'll ever need. All the rest of the Heritage guitars you ever get will be icing on the cake. Great guitar! Welcome!
