My 575 was set up so the neck pickup was way louder than the bridge and the middle position was then not as "jangly". I can't remember whose, but there was a thread not too long ago about Peter Green's out-of-phase tone and reversing magnets. That thread had a sound bite on it which was clearly that P.G. out-of-phase tone. Might want to do a little search here on the HOC for that one, cod. One way you can tell is if in the middle position with both volumes full up the tone will become thin and weak and hollow and very nasal if the pickups are out of phase.
