bigsby tailpiece for prospector?

bolero

Recommended Posts

hey, I bought my prospector used, I see six minor marks ( but no holes!! ) by the bridge, from the string ends coming in contact with the body, someone had a floating bigsby on there at one point

I might do the same....question is, which model bigsby do I need? I don't want to drill holes, it's got to float

ps I already have a long version of the arm to swap out, so I can hold the bar & pick at the same time

thx!!

I'd go with the B7 over the B3.  The B7 has an extra string guide that gives the strings a sharper angle over the bridge, creating more sustain, much like a stop tailpiece does.  But if you like the feel of a trapeze tailpiece, with the flatter string angle over the bridge, the B3 is the better choice.  Here are those models from the Bigsby page:

The B3 looks to be the best bet.  You shouldn't have to drill into the top with it.  I am not sure about the mounting holes for the back end.  Maybe they will match the current holes around the strap button.

thx guys!!

I think the B7 is what I have on my les paul......B3 looks like the one that was on there before, the string marks in the top would line up

I'll shoot a pic of the prospector

here's the LP fwiw
