Are Artisan Aged guitars always Custom Core?
Gitfiddler replied to eljay's topic in Heritage Guitars
Good decision. It's much easier to convert a humbucker equipped guitar to P90 than the other way around. There are many quality humbucker-sized P90 on the market. Sometimes the best solution is to buy another guitar. At least, that's what I've been telling my wife over the years. 🙂 - Today

Mini hums swap out perfectly into P-90 routs.

Thanks, everyone! My guitar repair guy told me that a P90 guitar should stay a P90 guitar, way too much hassle to change to HBs.

What’s happening at Heritage on September 25th?
TalismanRich replied to MelodiusThunk's topic in Heritage Guitars
Ah! so you're the guy who snagged that guitar. When I talked to Mike on that Wednesday, he said it was gone. I got the Antique Sunburst that was hanging next to it. I thought about the possibility that they might suspend the standard series and concentrate on the Custom Cores. In that case, I'm glad I grabbed my 530 when I did. I'm enjoying the lighter weight when I standing for 2+ hours, and it's very comfortable to play, just like the 535. I've play a few times through my Princeton, and it really sounded good going through my Strymon Iridium when I was jamming with some friends. -

This is probably not it... but... I also got a very sweet 530 not too long ago that had been hanging on the wall at that same Pickin Parlor mentioned above. It was discounted a bit more than other recent discounts because there was no pickguard (being a slightly older iteration... maybe previous year's model, I think), and I was told that one reason for the extra discount was because they no longer wanted to send that model of guitar out without a pickguard. I suspect that's a pre-existing change or policy that has nothing to do with whatever may happen on the 25th, but who knows. I'm very much hoping that the announcement is not a discontinuation of the Standard series.... (I've read some speculation on Facebook and/or here that they might be considering doing that, but I think it was just speculation by fans like us). The 530 that I got is absolutely delightful, and probably my new favorite guitar. -
What’s up with Heritage cases?!?!
TalismanRich replied to MelodiusThunk's topic in Heritage Guitars
Maybe you should have gone with the Custom Core version rather than the standard. For the extra $2000, you do get a much nicer case, among other things. Or you could have ordered two TKL cases for $400 and sold the Heritage cases. A Collings will be a nice guitar. For $8000 it should be. -

Just curious, but did your guitars arrive today? And if so, what headstock came with them? -

I don't know the headstock dimensions of the CC, but I measured my H-535 and the top was 1 3/4" and 2 5/8" at the widest point. My '25 H-530 is 2 1/8" at the top but still 2 5/8" on the bottom. -
What’s up with Heritage cases?!?!

If anyone cares… I just heard back from my friend. She said that the dealer that she purchased her guitar from confirmed that Heritage has indeed started to ship their guitars in the Chinese cases. Kind of a bummer. -

I don't know what exactly Heritage is using, but Lollar recommends 500K pots with 0.022uF caps, same as for humbuckers. If I had to guess, the wiring would be the same. But doing wiring on a Semi or Hollow body with f-holes is never a quick and easy project. One last comment.... the neck pickup has one spacer, so the height is not drastically different from a humbucker. -

Others have reached out to Heritage about the 25th. They were told that certain iterations of models have been discontinued and stated something along the lines of "stay tuned for an announcement on the 25th." My friend contacted Heritage about her case. I am not sure if she has heard back yet. I decided to refuse shipment of the two guitars that I ordered. Now I am looking into a Collings. I am still interested in the announcement. I bet they are changing up the headstocks. -

It will take some work to get Seths into an H-530. It comes with dogear P-90s, so you would most likely need to reroute the pickup holes. Plus you have two holes from the P-90s. I don't know if you could get SD to make a pair of Seths in dogear. -

You first consideration might be how the top was routed to fit the pickup rings and where the holes for the screws were placed. On second thought the first consideration might be the neck angle as the height of a humbucker with adjusting screws vs a p90 that has just two screws to attach to the top and no vertical play other than pole pieces just might be problematic. -
Thanks, Josh. Learning what I have, I think I'll take a different tack to get a H with Seths . . . right now, standard H535s and 530s are heavily discounted at Daves and Sweetwater (and probably other shops). So, it would make better financial sense for me just to get one of these and a new set of Seths. What intrigues me is the idea of Seths in a 530. Unpotted pickups in full hollow might be a feedback machine but tonally it seems like it would be delightful at lower volumes. Can anyone tell me if the wiring components are the same for 530s and 535s? That is, if I got a 530, would changing from P90s to Seths be a quick one and done (well, two actually) or are the capacitors or other wiring stuff different? Many thanks!

What’s up with Heritage cases?!?!

Some people like me don't even use the hardshell case unless its just for storage. I use a Mono gigbag for transporting as they have the best of both worlds for gigging. Protection of the headstock and neck like a hardshell case, but easier to grab and go with a shoulder strap. -

The aged Heritages started four or five years ago, long before the CC lineup existed. So you can find both Standard and CC that are Artisian Aged. This particular example ss a standard core H535, you can tell by the lack of inlays in the headstock and dot inlays on the neck. As early as 2023, Heritage changed the headstock size for the Standard Core to be the same as the custom core. Plus CC only have hand-wound pickups from the factory. This one was $3499, the CC H535 starts at $3999 Looks like you cannot buy this one now anyway, and if rumors are true, you won't be able to at all -

Yes it says it is artisan aged NOT custom Core so AA not CC Don't know about the scratch guard. -
Hi, everyone! I have my eye on this: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/H535AADLB--heritage-artisan-aged-h-535-electric-guitar-dirty-lemon-burst-sweetwater-exclusive The SW price and the headstock make me think the guitar is a standard, not a CC. It has Seth Lovers, which is what stirs my interest apart from the kool finish. Information is welcome! eljay

What’s up with Heritage cases?!?!
TalismanRich replied to MelodiusThunk's topic in Heritage Guitars
The cases have changed. The new ones aren't TKL, although of the 5 other Heritages I have, only 2 are classic TKLs. The one with my old 535 is different from the TKLs for my 157 or 140. In the past dealers could buy the guitars without cases and add whatever type they wanted. -
