UA enigmatic 82 dumble in a box
greywolf66 replied to greywolf66's topic in Amplification and Effects
UA like most of us is aware of the uniqueness of each of Dumble's amps, they have a large library of tone permutations available .. for me. Having been a sound man for 40+ years, I just dial in a good tone and smile. Dumble's have a reputation for liking to be dimed, I'm more of clean Hi-Fi base tone guy and play at 85 db or lower the majority of the time .. at 71 I'd like to keep my hearing a while longer. I'm very happy with the clarity the pedal gives . -

Looks like big fun ! -
Mine has Lollars and I love them Heritage 530
-
the 225's sound great from the clips I've heard, more like the Duncan Antiquity than the Lollar ( I have both )
-
which by the way, I just snagged . The owner was very reasonable, and it will make a great compliment to the 535 and 575

I've got 2 sets of Lollar 90's as well as a custom low wind set of PAF's from Jason. Great Pickups. The Duncan Antiquities are a bit less noisy , have them in 3 instruments

UA enigmatic 82 dumble in a box

Dumble had a contract that was required, all of his amps were considered prototypes, and nobody else was allowed to work on them . I think nothing will ever replace the real thing for any amp, it is a good box and versatile. UA makes good gear, they've been around almost as long as I have .. since 1958, I got turned on to it by my mentor Bill Hart who ran the Atlanta Institute of Music's Guitar dept. for 25 years, he's never steered me wrong. Bill's favorite instrument in my 52 instrument collection ... a H575-C , reminds him of his Benedetto -

Fender Blues Deluxe, Peavey Classic 30 both have great cleans and plenty of power
-
I love a good fuzz , currently I use the one in my Keeley Dark side, with an Xotic Super sweet and a JA Hourglass dual compressor before it the chain and the Enigmatic 82 overdrive after it's capable of about any overdrive/fuzz tone I'd like .. although I'm looking at Beetronics Swarm as it just sounds SO wicked cool. I'll never have the coin to own a Dumble, and truly the "Dumble sound" is sort of a misnomer as He built each one specifically for the artist. Robben Ford ( lifetime fan) has the #1 and he's played others that he didn't like. The pedal allows for an enormous amount of tweaking, I have a a full PA setup, (retired soundman) as well as 9 amps to play with . While it has a great OD sound, I set it more towards the "Robben" tone .. Clean , Rich and very touch sensitive. It makes all the other pedals on my board sound more Hi-Fi , similar to when I plug in my Alembics. -
I just picked up a Universal Audio Enigmatic 82 amp pedal, their idea of a dumble overdrive special in a pedal. I'm delighted, it makes all the other pedals sound better , amazing clarity, delicious warm cleans , and all the drive you could want. Stereo in and out capable, you can run straight to the board for recording or gigs.
