MartyGrass
I don't get it. Did it need replacing or did you just want to make the change?
yavuz
Both. Both had some stain on their cloth. It looked like mud stain but I could not get it out. My amps are 7 years old so they the black grill on them. When I saw the newer models with this color grill, I liked them better and I wanted to change them. Evans does not do red tolex anymore and this new color grill cloth looks really nice with red
kbp810
Looks like you did an excellent job - grill cloth application is not as easy as one might think; getting it straight, lined up, and evenly stretched can be quite the chore!

It was not easy. Actually taking out the old black grill cloth was harder for me than applying the new one. Get a screw driver Loosen up the older staples with a thin screw driver Take it out with pliers Do this for 4 sides Do this again for four sides of tolex trim Do this again for velcro that holds the front cover Line up the new grill cloth Staple the grill cloth and make sure it is tight and even. Cut the excess cloth from the corners Staple the tolex trim around. Staple the velcro I must have taken out 200+ staples before even I get to my staple gun. I have peeled off my right hand fore finger skin a little bit. I think now that I know I can do it, I will take it to an upholsterer next time. There is one in walking distance. All I have to do is to take the wood frame of my amp's front cover, and pay him $30.- Labor is not that expensive here.
