bolero
I have begun to notice ( on gtrs I have personally examined ) that the neck thickness/carve continues right to the end of the heel that is, it follows the 90 degree bend, and the amount of wood left on the flat part of the heel, is a good representation of how thick the neck is has anyone else noticed this? I am curious how consistently true it is ( or isn't ) ie: look at Brents new Gary Moore...slim 60's neck....look at the amount of wood on the heel now look at me...I'm on a horse....just joking....but now look at YOUR gtr, and see if the same is true? zguitar71
I have noticed this, at least on my guitar and in pictures that describe the thickness of the neck. My 150 has a 1 inch neck at the 12th fret and the heel is pretty big. Likewise the heel on slim necks does appear to be slim as well. Looking at pictures of real goldtops (50s) this same thing appears to hold true. So I do not think your crazy here, but then again maybe we are both crazy. We need some pictures of slim vs thick neck heels.
