Oh My, my my Millie DC

I took the Millie DC NFH to rehearsal again last night. First time I took it I only used it on a song or two. Last night I used it the whole time. And let me say this - Oh my! That guitar just sang! and sang! Everything from flat out country riffs to some nice bluesy tones. And most of that without any help from the pedal arsenal. Not to say I didn't use the pedals a few times. But lordy, did it sing. Kind of inspired me on a few songs, too. And with the Rhythm player using his Strat the tones complimented each other quite nicely. We've got a nice gig lined up next Saturday, think it'll go with.

Talking about this guitar.

This is listed as a semi-solid as opposed to a semi-hollow.  What are the sonic differences?

Hmmm. Interesting question. I have two Millies. A 2001 SAE and the 2008 NFH DC. The SAE (stereo acoustic electric - has a piezo under the bridge) is as semi as they get. Very woody tones, yet able to pull off the solid body riffs with no problems. Very much like my 535 in a smaller body. This one without the F-Holes is much more like a chambered solid body, not near as open woody toned as the SAE. Not having the F-holes seems to make a big dif in the tones. Could be the pickups, too, I'd guess. The SAE has stock Schallers, the NFH DC has HRWs. Or could be the carved top as opposed to the laminate top in the SAE.

Here's the SAE.

One of my bud's has the same color top.  Photos don't do it justice.  To see it in person is so much more impressive.  That said you can feel free to send this guitar to me and I will pass it on to another member in a few weeks.  >:D

OSB is my fav H-color. The H157 that Cosmik now has is the same color. And true ... pics don't do it justice. Nor would my sound clips ... so don't ask.  :P

That would look great right along side the Millie!!! And I plan on ordering a 150 that looks just like that. Maybe an H150LW! Still, that is one purty guitar there, Dave.

Hey guys, my SAE has them thar' holes, too. I just wanted to do something different with the custom order.

BTW, the guy that bought the G&L was a real player. I dug out the Millie and let him have at it for a few. Man, he was laying down some Misty and Lady is a Tramp right there. Wowzers one more time. The Mil just sat there on his lap and let it out. Just an FYI, this guy gave the Indonesian G&L a going over like you'd think it was a $2k guitar. Found a few things I hadn't seen. But when he touched the Millie he just smiled and laid out the jam. Truthfully, it was quite the experience to hear him playing that guitar like it was meant to be played. Makes me wonder why he wanted the ASAT Tribute.  :undecided:

To be honest, if I could find a used Milly sans F-holes to match my Milly avec F-holes, I'd snap it up. I don't think there'll be a used Milly sans F-holes coming up for sale any time soon, though. :'(

Ren told me he "thought" they had done one before. But couldn't really recall. So, yeah, they'd be quite rare. To be honest, tho', I did see one on the 'bay last year without F-Holes. Was either blue or transblack with a bigsby. Oh, he also said they thought it'd make a nice "option". So, it could be become less rare at some future date.

Bigsby? I'd have to pass on that.

Yeah, I thought the Bigsby really spoiled the look of the guitar. BTW, I meant the NFH might be an "option". Just thought I'd clarify incase anyone misunderstood.

Surely... Wouldn't a Milly "avec" or "Sans" F holes be a Millé

N'est pas.  ;D

Here's Jim's 150.  It is about 1/4 thinner than a standard 150 and louder than either of the other 150s in our circle of fools.  It's so dark I wanted to get the wood grain in the shot for a change so I took it onto his back deck and sat it in the sun.  This guitar was bought, shipped and received the same time as the 535 Mikenov now owns.

A better look at the finish over all.
