question: do they still make the Alex Scholnik model? Would it be cheaper to order the upgrades to sorta match that model, instead of paying for the signature on the head stock( which I dont need)?

answered my own question...saw an earlier thread about skolnick leaving heritage

A 150 with humbuckers will be a fine guitar...then you may want one with P-90s...I did.

I want to go with the humbuckers ,as they sound great with my set-up.

I wonder how much an upgrade to Throbak pups would cost?

After talking with Graham at Wolfe guitars ,I'm a little closer! He sent me pics of different finishes on 155's.

For finish its between Dark Almond and Vintage Wineburst.

Going with bound headstock and inlaid logo too.

Fingerboard- dark Rosewood

Pick guard- either trans black with binding, or same finish as guitar

I have a few strong opinions:

1 - I believe 150s look 10X better with bound and inlayed headstocks.

2 - Get a neck carve you can appreciate, Try Jays stuff out and let him know what feels the best.

3 - Heritage uses excellent wood and most flametops are really nice flame pattern you dont need Ultra.

4 - 150s are average at the 9.5 -10 pound area, Belly cut is an excellent upgrade (Deluxes have all the above features with Duncan 59s AND are serial # with a sequential Limited run ID #)

5 - One of my favorite 150s has a thin body, which I hardly see but completely love.

6 - No pickguard

Advice, if you pick VWB do a little share photos of you VWB thread and get a good idea how you want it to look... This color looks great or looks so so.

Checkout the Sunset Burst Finish(SSB)

I'm going with pretty much same specs except no bigsby and going with Tone Pros, I may hold off on the upgraded pick gaurs also since I won't even have it installed at first.

Few mentions of belly cut here..... I actually don't want the weight cut under 9lbs, I like 'em heavier.buy, I do like the look and feel.

Also, I'm getting it Plekk'ed. Still haven't decided on finish though.

Of the two finishes you've narrowed it to, I'd go with Vintage Wineburst.

Stunning look.

Also, Seth Lover pickups are fantastic as I imagine the SD Antiquities are as well. Many here favor Thobacks, and I've heard that WCR Crossroads or Darkburst pickups are excellent choices if you're going for a vintage PAF tone. Check them out.

Thanks! All good suggestions.

Hard to believe that VWB is not an ultra top. Beautiful finish and grain. I know the necks will all differ slightly, but I stressed that I want a 59' neck feel. Not tapered, thick but not huge baseball bat either.I did not talk to him about fretboard radius yet. But I like 9.5, which I'm sure they can do.

I doubt you'll get a Tune-o-matic style bridge that will handle that neck radius.
