brentrocks
I have had the pleasure of helping Southpaw find/acquire some really unique leftys! I picked up one of these jems from Heritage today after getting a major make over from our good friend REN!!! When Paul first found this beauity, he and I both thought it was a custom STAT....Ren infomed me today that it is a VIP II model....quite rare not only because it has the factory installed Kahler, not only because its a lefty...but now that it has a one of a kind electronics setup! This guitar started its life with the Vari-phaze system, which requires 3 mini toggles. Paul wanted to upgrade this axe with HRWs and the Double VIP system, which only requires 2 mini toggles....so what do you do with the 3rd hole???? Ren in his infinate wisdome, installed a "standby" switch in the 3rd hole....so you can cut the juice while on stage or between songs, etc! what a wild idea!!! Ren said it was a very challenging guitar to wire. Refer to my wonderful diagram to navigate this VERY tone friendly guitar!!! http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/ebmmquilt/pauls%20VIP2/P1010003wnims.jpg[/img] 1. Neck HRW pickup, 4 conductor wire 2. Set phasers to stun boys we're goin' in .... That pic really brings out the 12 year old in me ! So it's a VIP II after all, it's even more of an unusual one then because it has a set neck. I'm going to have some fun with this one !
jerund
Wow, that's got to have a few thousand different tones. I'd be afraid that if I found a unique sound I really liked I'd never be able to find it again It's a beauty. Enjoy!
