  1. I have NI Groove Agent, XLN Addictive Drums 2, a handful of other "drum machine" VSTs (because they're like Pokemon, you have to catch them all, right?), the built-in stuff that comes in Ableton Live and Cubase Pro, and a Roland TR-8. For "quality" sounds, Groove Agent of Addictive Drums win. For "just lay down a foundation to jam along with", the TR-8 wins hands down. Several years ago, though, Roland superseded the TR-8 with the TR-8s, which has some different functionality. Never bothered to "upgrade" because what I have works for what I want to do with it. If I'm building a track, the work flow, generally, is to just get that four on the floor going with the TR-8 and then eventually replace it with better sounding/more complex MIDI patterns from Groove Agent. Just depends on how much effort I feel like making at the time and whether I'm truly "building a track" or simply "futzing around", aka "noodling."
  2. If only. At least then I'd know who to beg to get it back.
  3. Bigsby. Commonly reviled as "sucking the tone out of the guitar." Hence the moniker. I have no such qualms about Bigsbys and find them to be good at that thing they do, even if it is, ah, subtle.
  4. I had an H170, once upon a time. Had a ToneSucker(tm) and everything. Never should have moved it on. Enjoy your new guitar!
  5. I am a sucker for honest play wear/natural relic-ing. If I were given the choice of two identical guitars, one in mint condition, one in "this tool actually put food on someone's table" condition, I'm taking the latter every time.
  6. I think I used Amplitube, once, a long time ago in a music room far, far away. If I'm tracking guitar or bass, I tend to use Guitar Rig. For DAW, I started with something I no longer remember the name of, then, when I switched to PCs, used Pro Audio 9 up through Sonar something or other. Think I got out around Sonar x2 or x3? Switched to Ableton Live when Gibbons bought Cakewalk. Couple version upgrades after that, I switched to Cubase Pro, primarily, but keep Live around and updated. I tend to move between them, depending on what I'm trying to accomplish.
  7. Of all the non-solid body Heritages I've lusted after, I have lusted after none so much as that one Randy won at PSP I (or was it later than that? early days anyway). 530, I think...P90s, trapeze. Of course, I can't play anywhere near as good as he (or anyone else here) does, so it'd be wasted on me, but.... @rockabilly69 that is a beautiful instrument. Love the burst!
  8. Telecasters truly are the Swiss Army knife of guitars. Used for everything from blues to jazz to reggae to rock 'n roll to pop to country to you name it. That Tokai is a real looker, too. Good luck with the band and gigs! I <3 gig reports, so I'm hoping you post a few.
  9. I laughed at the punch line. Sucked me in on that one! Glad you had a good time. It is amusing to hear my sons and their friends talk about songs that have been re-released as covers as if they're the original. I can't imagine playing in a band with that sort of disconnect.
  10. Welcome to the Club! Good luck with your search for a lefty 535/55; hope you score The One. Where in WV are you from? When we head down that way, we try to plan things so we can hit Tricky Fish in Charleston for a late lunch/early dinner; fun little joint.
  11. I've always told my boys, "Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see."

  13. Wow, I've really been slacking in the "welcoming new members" department. So, to all of you...Welcome to The Club! And, the obligatory:
  14. Wow, looks like I've missed a fair few new members! Welcome to the Club, everyone! Some great looking guitars posted here (as always)...that H-357 is uber-cool. I'm excited to see another H-160V..you have the twin to mine Buzzel. Well, paternal twins, as your single coils look different than the stock Schallers in mine.
