Pignose

fretless

Recommended Posts

I had one of those little pignose amps. My dad bought it me when I was six and I still have it. Awesome looking and sounding thing! Loved the single pot, with the pignose shaped knob. Especially when I was six!

FZ getting some great tones from it too

I wish I hadn't seen this. Now I need an SG! :laughing11:

Well you almost have one. In my opinion, from a physics standpoint, a 137 with humbuckers is pretty much an SG. Thinner mahogany body, mahogany neck and rosewood board, 24.5 scale.

Also, I've seen USA fadeds on CL for 400.00 all the time.

definitely dig the attitude of the real thing.

Almost, except my 137 has P90s.

As for CL - you probably don't see them in Lefty for $400.00. What I've seen in lefty, and used, is usually around $700 (in stores).

Right!! i knew that...just sayin' that Heritage could address that sonic jones, albeit without the cool DC........

And yeah, I DID forget, you're right minded, for which you perpetually pay a surcharge. :icon_thumright:

I put a SD custom shop bucker in mine but I love the neck P90 , infact it may be my all time favorite combo

so I've learned a few things since the OP , Frank has a 20 dB booster built into his axe , so some type of boost pedal perhaps would get you closer to that with your pig .It's also been widely reported that the old pigs are better , pre made in China .

as we veer with reckless abandon....would you correlate the sounds you get with the bridge bucker to classic SG tones? I've often wondered this about the 137 platform.

oh wait do you mean my 137 :icon_joker: um maybe... Not like Franks though that thing is freaking wooly with that rig , but lets see , here are a few clips , kinda gainy

Back on the topic of the Pignose Amps....Nice tone from Mr. Zappa.

UFO fans may know this but on their Album, Lights Out, what many consider their best, Michael Schenker recorded it on a Pignose.

seems like it was a secret weapon of the time , many guitarist used one .
