So the sound is great? Did you compare it to the 65 Princeton Reissue side by side?

No all they had was the 68 Custom..

You traded your beloved C 30? How could you!! I thought you loved that amp. Somebody told me that PV C 30's and Delta Blues amps are very Vox like in their configuration.

I know.. I played that thing a long time.. and it still sounded good.. But you know how it goes, after a while I started wanting something lighter.. I guess I'm getting lazy in my old age.. LOL

Awesome! congrats. Looks great.

Love hearing a strat or tele through a Princeton.

The tele only if some one else is playing it.

The clean tones are Awesome!! Fat and Chimey at the same time.. Still dialing in an overdrive tone.. I will get there though..

Guitar Center does NOT have these amps yet!!!

I found that strange also, Will. They usually get first crack at the new stuff from Fender. These first popped up on EBay from a couple of Canadian dealers. Now they're trickling down the the CONUS stores.

I'd like to try one, just to compare it to my Rivera era PRII. Don't need another amp. Just curious to see what Fender has done to this model.

I had a Princeton II with all NOS glass and it was a great amp, but it did not get the three dimensional cleans of the blackface Fender princetons I compared it side by side with, and the reverb wasn't as deep. I'm wondering if the circuit changes on these new reissues will change the clean tones. Plus at these prices you're only a few hundred dollars away from a few really good handwired amps. In the fender Princeton vein there's the Vintage Sound amps http://m.humbuckermusic.com/vintage-sound-15-black-tan.html

Vintage Sound makes a great handwired PR!

I found that a speaker upgrade to my '80s PRII made all the difference...to my ear. I dropped a Weber alnico 12" in it and it just sings.

As for the availability of the new 68 PR Custom, Sweetwater just got them in stock.

Yep I put a Weber Alnico in mine too (12A150), and I tried it with a great sounding Weber Ceramic, and I loved the Princeton II, I just don't think it could hang with the Blackface Princetons when it came to clean wone with reverb. But it was a killer club amp capable of covering a lot of ground!
