PRII Service Call...

Last week I dropped off my '86 Fender Princeton Reverb II at my friendly amp repair dude, Billy at Music and More Guitars.

The amp is in great shape overall, but the pots were getting scratchy, and after 30 years, it probably needed a pro to give it a check up.

Well yesterday I get a series of excited text messages from Billy, telling me that the amp only needed a few adjustments, misc. soldering, tweaking, DeOx and a few other technical things far above my pay grade. The reason he was so excited was what he saw after removing the EV12L and amp chassis. He was simply gushing with how well made these point-to-point amps were done back in the Fullerton factory.

Gut shots for our amp aficionados....

Very nice. Rivera, no doubt.

I imagine it sounds like a souped up Super Champ through a 12 inch speaker, or maybe a Deluxe Reverb.

Those RIveras certainly redefined Fender amps for a brief period.

Yes, Princeton Reverb II's are part of the so-called Paul Rivera, Ed Jahns era of Fender. To me this amp sounds like the 'love-child' of a Super Champ and Deluxe Reverb!

They have quite a cult following on the net including a dedicated website and Facebook site.
