It can go from low to moderate to high gain, but still sounds HUGE & crunchy without sounding muddy. It can do hair-band metal (which I would never do) to Robben Ford-Larry Carlton level OD. It can go from low to moderate to high gain, but still sounds HUGE & crunchy without sounding muddy. It can do hair-band metal (which I would never do) to Robben Ford-Larry Carlton level OD. I LOVE my Rat. Im the same Kuz. Ive had one since about 1986. Originally used it for higher gain stuff and as a sort of fuzz sometimes. For the last 20yrs Ive used it as a low gain od or set very low gain and stacked with a TS9 set to low gain/boost for a classic rock bluesy rock sound. Ive bought rat clones along the way. Theyre all gone and the 86 rat still remains. I finished work late last night and had a long drive home. Very tired and needed to unwind. Guitar is the great unwinder. I have had some new toys over the last months. Two of them are here. Cheap little Ibanez AS73T and Boss BR800. The long term team members in this are the ProCo Rat and the Fender Concert II. I thought last night when I had done this there was a theme in it. On listening back to it the next day, there isnt. Yep, tan pants. Never made it out of my work clothes.
