I HAD TO DO IT!

Well as you may have saw, the blue 555 on ebay...the guy was very close to my town, so this morning i went to see it.  It was awesome!  The wood was awesome, the inlays the neck, the color, HRWs!  there was no fret wear!  it was like new!  the headstock repair was a very minor thing and was done by a local Luthier that is very reputable, so i know it was done right!

the price was so good, i had to do it!!!

i'll let the pics do  the talking!!!

Oh yeh, very nice score!!  That's so nice of you to offer it as the HOC gathering door prize (must be present to win)!!  ;D ;D

Thought that was near you when I saw the ad.  Very Bernard Alliison or Reverend Raven look to it.  A beauty for sure!

Brent,

Did you ever read the story about the boy that cried "Wolf" everytime he sold/bought a guitar? ;D

WTF!? Now Roy's gone, too?  Doeen't anyone read the Ebay rules??

If you view eBay as a classified advertisement, the listing fees are marginal in comparison with the number of eyeballs that you reach. This practice has been escalating steadily, but I think that it has gotten worse in the last six months.  List your item, wait for someone to make you a backdoor offer, end the auction.  You pay the listing fees but no final fees or cancellation fee.

Ah.. now I am getting the picture...thanks Dick. I'd be afraid to make buy off-line because there's no official follow up, and sellers are supposed to report people that circumvent the auction process. Man, looks like I've been pretty naiive. For the seller it's a sweet deal, and probably irresistible.

Thanks for all the compliments guys

i know, it doesn't have a bigsby, but beggars cant be choosers!  i got home w/ it and 1 hour later i had to leave for the in laws...so no tone reports yet..  i really cant play that much yet....i strummed it a little at the guys house, enough to know i liked it.

keeper?  i think so?  i have do decide what to sell now...either the ex-terminator or the 162?  i know it seems like i own a guitar store, but the chace is all the fun!!! ;D

as far as the headstock repair....it is the typical crack on the back side of the head that runs from high E tuner in a U shape, but in this case, its not very big...the crack was spread, injected w/ a special glue, clamped and tested.  has been strung w/ 10s for months, no issues.  i normally would not buy a damaged guitar, but this 555 was just so incredible...the neck is nice and slim, the action was super low w/ almost no buzz....very well balanced.  a little heavy for a 555 (maybe 8.5)????  and a hard case

as far as the price, I'm not one to kiss and tell ;D  let me put it this way, if anybody on this club was confronted w/ this deal, you would have got the checkbook out w/ out hesitating!!!

as a lot of you know, i'm an impulse buyer w/ intence GAS!!!  i would think it will be a perminent part of my collection, but dont lynch me if you see it on the block in a few months....i cant help it, its a disease!!! :P >:D

Wow--a beautiful blue guitar and a new Blues Junior!  All you need now is a nice maize-colored pickguard (unless you root for the green and white team from East Lansing).

HHHAA  HHAA  HHAA....no green Ss for me!!! ;D

thanks man!  the guy was very insistant on standing behind it if i ever had issues, i doubt i will....but yes you are right,  i was lucky to score it....i just happened to be local, if it werent for that fact, it would not be in my house.
