  1. Today
  2. That is one beautiful guitar, congratulations and enjoy.
  3. Yeah, I have to say, Throbak has been great to deal with. Expensive, but they are the real deal. I put a used set of DT-102 MXV humbuckers in my Gibson R0. They had been special ordered like 20 years ago, by a well-known guitar tech with an unusual selection of magnets. I contacted Throbak and decided to purchase the normally specified magnets. They weren't cheap, but I can attest to the fact that their magnets are indeed, the real deal. Super happy with how they treated me in the process. I'd definitely do business with them again. I've heard/played their 63 Strat set and without even knowing what they were, I was floored by how good they sounded too.

  5. Beautiful, congrats!
  6. Can an average Joe like myself get a thicker neck carve on a standard H-530 for an upcharge or is that just for those on the inner circle? I would love to have that option.

Thanks all. I’m excited about it. It has to go from Florida to California now so ….tick-tock. Hopefully by Saturday I’ll be able to report on its safe arrival.
  8. That's a beauty.
  9. I could get seasick looking at all the waves in that maple! Beautiful guitar, congrats!

For the record I did not pay that reverb asking price in the screenshot photo. Did not mean to display that in the post. Admin - can you delete it? Bought directly from Wolfe with some negotiation to get to a number I could afford and was also fair to them. always good to work with the team at Wolfe. But…it was still a good chunk of change so something now needs to be sold….stay tuned.
  15. I've been drooling over that one for a while. Congratulations!
  16. Dazzling. Congratulations!

  18. Those two did not work. However I have it on good authority that if I could find a Conrad Bison electric I would be as a 12 year old again.
  19. Did it work? I'm still holding on to mine. A visit to the HOF keeps me hanging on.
  20. I picked up a Harmony H65 for free and one of the old silvertone danelectro's with the amp in the case at a yard sale for $100 a lot of years back while trying to recapture my youth. Both were actually pretty cool. I ended up selling both a couple of years ago as I didn't really play them. I just had them for cool factor. I sold the Harmony for $800 as it turns out the Chris Izaac was playing one and they were popular. I used to tell people that it was the top of the line guitar from the bottom of the line guitar maker. I have to admit the pickups on the Harmony were really great. I had read somewhere that they were built by Gibson in the 50s or something.
  21. I have to say I'm intrigued by this one. If it was Kalamazoo made, it would be heading my way. https://reverb.com/item/103605697-heritage-ascent-h150-limited-ash-top-fr-2026-matte-black
  22. I've never had a problem with Throbak customer service, and I've never heard of Peter Flynn till today!
  23. Most pre-Plaza Corp/Band-Lab Heritage have a thinner neck profile, more of 60's carve. Special orders (like the famous Marv-Carve) had big necks, but those are very, very rare. Heritage for short time before revamping their model lineup actually partnered with Throbak who works out of Grand Rapids ( an hour drive north of Kalamazoo). In fact, Heritage used to own some of the original pickup winding machines and sold them to Throbak. However, after witnessing Throbak's customer service, I'd never recommend them. Peter Flynn is more respected PAF pickup winder, he has worked on nearly every famous guitarist we all know in recent years..
  24. Not at all. All carved the same.
  25. If money were no object, I would get the CC but probably with something closer to the standard carve neck. My fingers aren't that long, and fat necks aren't necessarily the best thing. I'm sure I could talk Pete into carving one that fit me... for the right price. And it's not just the size, it's the shape. V necks aren't good for me. Wide and flat isn't good. I like the edges to have some roll to them. A sharp edge on the fingerboard turns me right off.
  26. if money was no object, I would go for the Custom Core for the 50's neck carve alone. That's just personal preference. I am sure the standards are very nice in their own right.
  27. Aaron from Warmoth did a nice video comparing SS and Nickel. I really couldn't hear a big enough difference and as I've been wanting to try them out, I went for SS frets on a tele style neck I just ordered from Guitar Mill. I won't get it until the end of the year but if I hear a huge tonal difference because of the frets I will report back.
  28. I prefer a thicker neck carve so it's a bit of a bummer for me that they seem to only come on the higher priced offerings. Gibson does the same thing though. I played a custom core H-530 recently and man that neck felt great! I'll probably end up going for a standard though as it's hard to justify the additional funds.
