One of the negative comments I hear most on other forums is from guys that won't buy a Heritage because, "the headstock is ugly".

Really?! You gotta be freakin kidding me?

You gotta do better than that, that headstock has history man!

It just blows my mind.

Alright. That's it! One of us. You're in.... Welcome to the fold, Rick. Post pics of the 150, as soon as you take delivery....

Rick,

If you order your own Heritage 150 new, you can tell them you want the burst more prominant or not. I really never thought of VSB being faded on other Heritages, but maybe their pictures were taken in bad lighting.

As far as the headstocks are concerned, two things....

1) I wish I would have ordered all my Heritages with BOUND headstocks (but off course if you are going for the classic Les Paul standard look, those were not bound) Here is a pic of both my VSB 150s, one on the left has the bound headstock......

And my other VSB 150 WITHOUT a bound headstock..

2) I feel the Sperzel Ivoroid Tuning machines look better (and must be ordered from the factory because the holes for the pegs are smaller than other brands)

AND

3) IF OTHERS TELL YOU THE HEADSTOCK IS UGLY, I SAY REALLY, ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????

Look at this pic of the headstock from my Florintine Golden Eagle, UGLY, REALLY??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

OH, and another thing..... the Mother of Pearl inlay in the headstock saying "The Heritage" (which is on the pic of the bound headstock) is nicer than the silver screen version.

But honestly, they all look INCREDIBLE and more importantly,... sound even better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chico this is pretty cool info, oddly enough back in the 50's my grandfather (who's guitars you see in my sig) had a local variety show here in Harrisburg, PA called the "Hayloft Ho-Down". Back in the day he had played with national acts like Genie Shepard, Ferlin Husky, and Buck Owens. Ferlin Husky actually offered him a job at one point to go on tour, and like Rem he turned it down to raise his family.

I don't think you would hear of anyone turning down that offer now a days, times have changed.

Rick, love your photos on your signature-is that an original Bassman I see? What do you have that your Grandfather passed along to you? Good memories too I am sure. Hey, no lack of Heritage Porn on this forum!!

Kuz,

Those 150's are it right there, and they may have answered a question I've had about a lot of the VSB guitars I see. Yours are the first that I have seen that look the way I think they should. It seems a lot of pics of the VSB seem washed out so to speak and the burst isn't real prevalent in the pic. Based on yours, and the fact that I'm sure the craftsman at Heritage know how to get consistent results. Your VSB is really what I'm after, to me that is the ideal SC guitar right there.

He might even sell you one!!

Basically the vintage stuff in my sig is what was passed on to me. The big archtop is an ES300n from 1951, the tweed amp isn't a Bassman, it's actually a 3x10 Bandmaster from 59. My Pap always felt that he had to play a bassman too loud to get what he wanted out of it. WIth the ES300 that amp just plain rocks. The red guitar is a 67 Fender Corodado II, he felt a need to get something a little lighter and went that route, both are great guitars. I consider myself very lucky.

This thought crossed my mind. I could give that plain headstock h150 a good home if it's taking up too much room, or not getting enough play time.

Sorry that people are trying to take advantage of you, being new and all. I think it was a cruel joke. Everybody here at HOC knows that all of my Heritages are my babies, but especially "Greeny" (the plain headstock VSB 150..... just a TONE MONSTER!!!!)

You should order one like it. It's got Throbacks in it. I'm not sure what those are; thought they were undersized fish.

Anyway, one of those, a good set of pickups, sprinkle liberally with pixie dust....give it a cool name and you're golden -or VSB in this case.
