rockabilly69 Posted October 12 Posted October 12 (edited) That was great! I'm a huge Roy Clark fan, but I really LOVED Joe Pass's rhythm comping. Edited October 12 by rockabilly69 1

MartyGrass Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I've had two Roy Clark models. The first one was fully hollow and a thinline. That was a one-off. I have a standard model now which is just fabulous. It's gorgeous and plays very, very nicely. It's basically a 555 single cutaway. The cutaway is deep. 1

I always wanted to try one of these.
PunkKitty Posted October 20 Posted October 20 I'm fortunate. Back in the early 80's when I was studying guitar at the local community college, Joe Pass played 2 shows in one night. Prior to that, he hosted a student seminar. I met him. I sat in on the seminar, and watched 2 solo shows that night. It's a night that I won't ever forget. Joe was such a nice guy who went through a lot in his life. He was incredibly blunt, honest, and inspirational. 3
ElChoad Posted October 21 Posted October 21 I thought Roy Clark died like 10 years ago. And who is Joe? Well, R.I.P. to both of them.

Was the Roy Clark the same size as a 535/55? I thought it was a smaller body for some reason, like a Millennium or Prospect
MartyGrass Posted 47 minutes ago Posted 47 minutes ago It's the size of a 535 but with a deep single cutaway. The inlays are block. If it didn't cost more than the 555 it may have been more popular. Endorsing artists received money for each instrument that has it's name on it. Long ago I recall that Johnny Smith was to receive $500 per instrument. 1
