R35608 Reporting In

After a couple months of trying, by george, I think I've got it!

Meet R35608.

A bit plane jane by the amazing standards seen here, but in less rarified air she stands out as something quite special. Transparent Cherry, chrome, stock (schaller?) pups, dot inlays and a foul-tempered nut that Tully has gernerously been helping me with. I'm the original owner and everything is stock. She was gigged quite a bit for a few years and has picked up a few cymbal strikes on the top of her headstock and sports a fair bit of pick rash that I could probably polish out. She took a hit from a flying beer bottle square between the bridge and the strap pin and shrugged it off. Narry a scratch, save for a very fine hairline crack in the finish. All are asy enough repairs, but I think it adds personality to to old bag so I've let her wear her scars with pride. Good times.

About the pictures, it goes without saying that I am not a photographer. The following were taken with my cell phone, and I really struggled with trying to capture her flame while controlling glare. Hence the fairly dark images. I'll try to get some better images into the gallery at some point, but for the time being just getting them uploaded to a thread is a major triumph. Don't laugh! Taking pictures is hard. :D

Alright, on to the low-fi porn:

Forgot to mention, look for the small black knot between her waist and the top horn (front and back). It's an easy way to ID the old goat and is also her namesake: Dirty Dottie.

Thank you, High Flying Bird. I've been lurking for a few months despite quickly coming around to the idea that I really like the low-key feel of this place. I would have posted sooner but I've been engaged with my cell phone in the same way that Ned was occupied by the Squid in 20,000 Leagues.

Ned got off easy, I've been at war with my cell phone for a few months.

That being sorted, it's nice to have had the opportunity to bring Dirty Dottie home to a group of people that can appreciate her for what she is.

It's great to bring her home :D

R35608 sounds like a prison ID number. A redheaded bad girl. How could one resist?

LOL, I've never associated Dirty Dottie with her serial number (thought it might be handy to the folks that run the forum), but now that you've mention it...I've got to memorize her serial number and practice speaking R35608 just as it's spoken on Live From Folsom Prison. :D

After all, it's one of the few solos that I know, note for note.

Great catch :clapping_mini:

Great looking guitar. I think it's awesome that you gig it and let the wear show...those are the guitars I tend to gravitate towards when I buy. Thanks for sharing Dirty Dottie with the Club!

Thank you for mentioning that. Since I've found the forum, I've been a bit sheepish about Dottie's, errr, feral state of repair. Like I said earlier, it's rarified air around here. You'd never catch me taking that gorgeous blue burst into a club, that's for sure. On the other hand, Dottie used to work for her living, so I don't mind her showing off her scars. More than anything else, if it keeps her tempestuous nut happy, I'm game.

Dirty Dottie must be a hottie!

I love poetry!

Welcome to the HOC, DCA. If I ever have the privilege to own a 535 I would like the trans cherry red & chrome. Dirty Dottie is a beauty! (I'm not poetic like Thundersteel.)

Welcome Dirty Dotty, and thanks for dragging DCA along with you.

By the way, she ain't no 'plain Jane'! That's a badass bad girl you've got there, cymbal bumps and all.

Welcome to the HOC. :clapping_mini:

You better believe, it boss. :D

By the way, I'm sorry about the nut remark in the other thread. I didn't realize it was a "here we go again" kind of afair. I was under the impression that a nut job was parce and parcel with Heritage ownership. Tully has me on the straight and narrow path, curently. I'll talk it over with Dottie and see what the foul-tempered old goat has to say about it, but I think she wants a new nut....so horribly emasculating.

Plain Jane? No such thing on this site! Looks awesome! Definitely eye-balling a '35 or '55 for a future purchase!

I appreciate your interest and kind words, but I'm afraid she isn't for sale. However foul-tempered she may be, she is my first Heritage and I have no intention to part with her.

She's one of two guitars that I've really bonded with..and Heaven knows I've had a few.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a '35 or '55 that you're happy with. You will, and it will be good :clapping_mini:

I'm rooting for you.

Great looking 535.

Sorry DCA, I didnt realise you were a new member, otherwise I would have said welcome to the HOC before hand.

Any way..... welcome to the HOC :clapping_mini:

Nothing to be sorry about. You've extended as warm a welcome as anyone could want.

And besides, I wasn't terribly forth coming, was I?

Like I said, I was flabbergasted by those series of bends that I saw in the video. You know the rest.

Thanks again for your help, your kind and helpful attitude is exctly why I decided to sign up for this forum.
