  1. Did they explain why they chose 717 as the model #? So far, numerical prefixes have been 1,3,5 No 7's until now? any others? why no 2,4,6's? I can maybe understand why no 2's or 4's. Avoids all the 2x4 jokes
  2. well what is sound & volume? air pressure more speakers = more air pressure I'm not sure who downvoted my post, lol, but I thought it was informative. I apologise if I offended somebodies sensitivities.
  3. wow that's a beauty! B serial & a stinger drool
  4. speaker sensitivity is important too. A 102 dB speaker is going to be louder than a 90 dB speaker, with a given amp
  5. why do 4x12 cabs sound louder than what? a 1x12? seriously? more speaker surface area also improves bass response. That's why bass cabs can use a bunch of 10" or 8" ( or even smaller ) speakers. smaller speaker cones are also faster, so a big 15" speaker may have more bass than a 10", but is slower & less responsive. usually. Throw a bunch of 10" speakers in & they're faster, and have the same low end as a 15" speaker cabinet design is a whole other can of worms: ported, not ported, direct radiator, passive radiator, horn loaded, diimensions & size, shape etc all factor in
  6. Oh, I thought yours was the first! I was referring to them rather than you...which is why I replied in your thread. I guess I could have worded it better apologies
  7. agree it's good to see Heritage making big archtops again. And especially a new model! The Cadillacs of the guitar world
  8. Looks nice! There's 3 different threads here about the same gtr. Don't you guys read before you post? Big news though: the 1st new model in a long time. Undertstandable.
  9. yeah that takes admiration of old tubes to a whole new level
  10. GC was the final designation of the 6L6 right? I wonder if design changes between them has anything to do with the sound. Did you measure the actual plate voltage of the Wooly amp?
  11. Nice to see "The Heritage" back on the headstock Although I think it should be the other way around: US handmade models should be "The Heritage" & the offshore less expensive ones "Heritage" doesn't affect the instrument in any way so I guess it's superfluous
  12. Now you're in trouble. You drank the Kool Aid. You'll probably have to get another one at some point Heritage guitars have always been admired by the cognoscenti, and the headstock agnostic. They are truly great instruments. I've gone through & stil have some others but Heritage are my faves
  13. wow, look at that! Beautiful guitar. Congrats!
  14. shipping damage, unfortunately. I never even got to hear it!
  15. I have one of those with a destroyed cone I keep forgetting about. I should get it reconed!
  16. I have an Eastman 00 acoustic that is great sounding
  17. man, I was just thinking about this thread again. I wish I still had my celestion alnico blues & alnico gold 12" speakers. They were really good. I sold them when I unloaded my Vox & Matchless amps
  18. some nice gtrs there!!
  19. yep summed up pretty good above There is a dynamic between particular speakers & particular amps. Always good to play around with combinations but use caution. Unless you can afford recones or don't have any rare vintage speakers. I have an old ~15w tube amp I put an ancient Bell & Howell alnico film speaker in it, very light resonant cone. That thing RAWKS when it's cranked up. I bet it's just on the verge of the speaker's power handling
  20. yes good points Waverly tuners are amazing. $$ though
  21. they look good I tried a belly cut on a 535 once. It didn't end well.
  22. Holy 357 mania!! is that 3 of them in there? what kind of bass is that guy using? looks unique, lipstick pickups too?
