You do realize that the "cnc machine" pics were not from 225, right???

Oops. I got so excited when the pics popped up I didn't scroll down far enough to read the fine print. :icon_silent:

What is the connection to Heritage??

The connection is there is no connection. At first I thought Heritage has a working plex.

Because I've lived in Michigan since 1980 I have had the good fortune to tour the Heritage Plant in K-zoo twice. The pictures I am seeing today in NO WAY remind me of what I've seen. WOW!!! What a nice improvement. Thanks for posting.

Take care.

What the hell?! I was told they won't do inlays where the frets cross they are so busted and I'm calling my dealer!

Just Kidding. I think they just wanted an excuse to not do birds in the inlays (that aren't eagles) because they don't wanna look like PRS. Shop looks great can't wait to visit!

Might depend on whether you can source the inlaid fretboard yourself or not. I don't know whether they do the inlays first, or the fret slots in that type of situation. Takes quite a different touch if you need to saw through inlays. The heat can cause problems with the wood.

I think they are missing a golden opportunity here! With all of the extra sawdust and wood chips, they could easily turn THIS....

into this

to make THESE!

The ultimate in steam pressed tonewood scraps to give you that truly VINTAGE sound. Think of the possibilities. You could actually form the masonite into an arched configuration, thereby eliminating the need to actually CARVE WOOD!

Not at all, Polo! Pollen's been bad here, this spring. Neti potted my coffee when I saw the first pic! Much better now! Thanks!

They get them all from England Custom Inlay is my understanding, and that's who makes the pattern I asked for. I'm just having fun - they vetoed my choice based on the birds/waves (which I assumed would happen) but then made a comment about not being able to fix an inlay that gets damaged during fret installation if it crosses the frets. I figure they *can* do it they just won't if it's already a pattern on which they are not keen! I'm really looking forward to seeing the factory this summer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah yeah, go ahead and brag about the fact that you are so accessible to Heritage you can drop in there anytime! As well as tour other notable guitar factories throughout the country! Yes, I am jealous Polo!
