I knew I had a training meeting up near O'Hare Airport in Chicago, so I worked out a deal with PunkKitty to snatch, umm, acquire, her 1985 H-170 with Alumitones. She met me in front of my hotel, and we were shaking hands goodbye 5 minutes later. The guitar is just as advertised; well "loved." I don't know HOW somebody could scratch/gouge the neck as badly as they did, but it's on the high E underside of the neck, and you really don't feel it when playing. I really didn't need this, as I have ANOTHER one of Brent's old 170s, a 1988 with ebony board and bound headstock/neck, but they are too good of a guitar to pass up. I can't wait to get home to try it through an amp. Pics in next post. Thanks Monica!

I can't get past the look of those pups but I bet they kick some ass. Nice sna.. er, acquisition.

Those pickups look pretty good IMHO. And the gouging also looks pretty good... if that's how you want to evaluate a well-gouged gouge.

Very nice top on that guitar. Nice buy!
