With that guitar came a cunning array of stunts.

A stunning guitar in every respect. Thank you for the porn!

Fred brought this out at the first PSP I attended, PSP III. The excitement in the air was palpable as Fred, grinning ear to ear, opened the case to share the beauty of this priceless work of art. He then proceeded to tear into "Whole Lotta Love..." Just kidding. I dug up these pics from that day; Fred's are better.

I've studied pics of this fine instrument many times and never ever get tired of it. The flamed/quilted back is so intense. Is it 4" deep?

Also, thanks Fred for fixing pics in my posts!

I agree , the figuring on the back is intense and unique. It looks very impressive in person.

In the details of the construction, I believe that it was spec'd to be 4", but it's the one thing that isn't exactly as spec'd. I've forgotten the actual measurement at the rim at this moment.

Both the Centurion and American Eagle archtops deserve to be displayed behind glass cases. Man, those boys on Parsons Street really know how to build world class guitars!!

That reminds me, when we were at the amazing guitar exhibit at the museum in Indianapolis, a friend noticed that those incredible instruments were on loan to the museum.

He suggested that I should offer the Centurion for one of the main glass display cases..... and I had to admit .. there would not have been a more impressive instrument on display if I had done that. It impresses from all angles.

I cannot believe this kind of guitar exists! It is so beautiful!!! I am truly impressed. I will have to send a bill for the broken keyboard on my macbook... Massive amounts of drool don't get along well with electronics! =)

Sweet guitar!!!

Yeah, thanks for a cool memory .... it was a bit of fun. It was great to see everyone's reaction to it in person. Funny, I offered a couple of people to play it ,but most just wanted to admire it at that moment.. (nice pics, BTW )

And thanks for the kind thoughts, Chris. Owning it almost seems like a stewardship in some ways.... a bit of Heritage history.

The story is cool and the guitar even cooler. Thanks for sharing the story:) It's also

cool how so many of you guys here are on first name basis with the crew at Heritage.

Hopefully, one day, I will get to meet the people that build these guitars. A PSP would

be nice, but my schedule is so demanding playing wise I don't know if that would be

possible.

Book a gig in Kalamazoo the first weekend in August, attend the PSP and write off the trip on your taxes.

Larry paints Benedettos now..The inlays on the back are a nod to D'Angelico. I think the backs are where to look for signs of true craftmanship.IMO. The bridge is in the Gretsch deco style. Went through 100s of inlays to get those hearts. Painfully cool guitar.

Thanks for the update on Larry. And yeah, the inlays in the back are a nice touch. ( a MOP diamond in the ebony heal and a large MOP diamond w 2 small abalone diamonds in the back of the headstock )

I remember Larry saying that they went through a bunch of ebony boards to find the one that they ended up using..

100s ... The neck was from a personal stash too..It was selected from 2 years of necks..The finish is of the highest quality..LOTS of hand sanding..Lovely guitar

Thanks Pete.

BTW... to anyone wondering... Pete (Farmer) had a hand in making the Centurion is why he knows what went into crafting the instrument.
