tsp17 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 the Millie i bought from Brent showed up last night. Haven’t had a lot of time with it yet, but man oh man this is a great guitar! Brent comes through again! Minty fresh, like it has been played very little. Tuners still feel new. Sounds more like a semi-hollow because of the chambered body, which is exactly what i was looking for. No feedback issues but still a big and round enough sound for jazz, soulful blues, R/B, and fusion. My band has been getting loud and my archtops often feedback. I guess I’ll be one of those players that switches guitars depending on the song. Yes, overkill for the kinds of gigs we get, but it will give me more flexibility to get funky or louder jamming and use some drive/breakup when the moment calls for it. Just plain FUN. I’ve been playing straight ahead for so long I’m ready to get down and dirty before i get too old. I’ll post some pictures over the weekend, but they probably wont be as good as Brent’s. It really is as gorgeous in person as it is in the photos in his for sale post. Thank you @brentrocks for the great transaction and fast shipping, well packed as always. I also got it a friend: a UA Enigmatic ‘82 pedal. They make a great pair. 6
Gitfiddler Posted April 4 Posted April 4 @tsp17...Awesome NGD review. There's something magical in a well made, chambered gitfiddle. Play it in good health. 👍

tsp17 Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 (edited) This guitar is a monster player. Playing it with three different amps, with and without a drive pedal. Sounds huge and beautiful no matter what it is paired with. I had to stop because my ears were ringing. Edited April 4 by tsp17 7
TalismanRich Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I still think the Millennium should be in the Heritage lineup. It's a unique guitar, versatile and great sounding. 2 1

You don't hear many people complaining about file marks along the bindings and fretboard, or ridiculously bad cut nuts these days And I think their custom core LPs rank with some of the best guitars to come out of Kalamazoo. 2

I agree with you about the quality aspect. But this whole Standard and Standard II thing, I think is kinda stupid. Just offer different neck profiles.
TalismanRich Posted April 8 Posted April 8 It's not just the neck profile. The H150 has the push-pull tone controls now, chambered so they are lighter weight and Heritage's own pickups in place of SD-59s, updated headstock (slightly wider, and the "The" is no longer there.

I see the Standard II to be a more modern guitar, with much more than a different neck size. see Rich's post... 5 hours ago, TalismanRich said: It's not just the neck profile. Doesn't the Standard II have different bridge, it looks like a thinner ABR type, with the Standard having the older Nashville style?

My 2023 Standard is a great guitar. I have zero problems with how well its made and sounds. Can't imagine a custom core would be so much better that I would ever justify playing 2x the price.

Few differences including moving away from Seymour Duncan to inhouse built pickups.

Personally I am not a fan of any weight relief. 1 hour ago, DetroitBlues said: My 2023 Standard is a great guitar. I have zero problems with how well its made and sounds. Can't imagine a custom core would be so much better that I would ever justify playing 2x the price. I like my standard H150s, especially because I modded them with all the electronic and hardware choices that I like, and the one that I bought used was cheap, I got it for right around a grand! Even with the pickups and hardware changes it came in under $1600. My new one I paid around $2300 for and still had to upgrade. Which is still cheaper than a Custom Core these days:) I also had to recuit the nut and dress frets on the H150s. And both of them are considerably heavier than the lighter Custom Cores. I also like the aesthetic touches of the Custom Cores better, especially the bigger headstock, the slightly different lower horn, and the body carve, which I love the look of. That said, I don't like the custom core tuner choices, or the hardware. And most likely I would replace the pickups as I'm not a fan of potted pickups. That's why I don't own one. If I didn't have to upgrade, I would buy a used one. Edited April 8 by rockabilly69 1
tsp17 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Just dropped it off with my tech to install Seth Lover pickups, fresh set of 11’s, and some minor adjustments. Will report back. Getting it ready for a jazz groove/funk/soul/rock band project that has been percolating in my head. Tunes like Lucky Southern, Cantaloupe Island, Valdez in the Country, Killer Joe, Back at the Chicken Shack, Song for my Father, Comin’ Home Baby, some classic rock jam tunes, some “acid jazz” as the kids call it today. Think Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, or El Chicano for the ballpark. Electric, rhythmic, danceable, but still with a jazz vibe. Getting older sure motivates you to get some shit done before you can’t anymore. Been wanting to do a project like this one for a long time.
