  1. Caveat Emptor. You might have dodged a bullet if the seller refused to follow this simple step that is designed to protect from Ebay scammers.
  2. I had a similar experience with my Patriot. A few years ago I got called to do a jazz/RnB gig with a quartet at a venue that seated about 500. Even though they insisted on using their dedicated sound techs, mike our amps and control volume from the house set up, I waived them off. The mighty Patriot don't need no stinking SM57! At the rehearsal/sound check, the sound guy obliged me...at first. I plugged in my H555 and cranked up the Patriot's volume just past 12 o'clock and rang out a few glorious power chords and funk riffs. Next thing I knew there was a frantic sound guy running down the aisle towards me yelling "turn that f%&*@-ing amp DOWN!! That evening there was a Sure SM57 strategically placed in front of the tamed Patriot, with volume set at around 9 o'clock.

  5. This! Since the H-575 is still in production at Heritage they're the best source. https://heritageguitars.com/pages/h-575 Another option is to contact a volume Heritage dealer like Wolfe Guitars, who ordered custom optioned 575's etc. over the years.

  7. @TalismanRichYessir, that looks exactly like my rig...with the exception of a a few of tolex scrapes on mine from load-in/load-out episodes. And I love that sweet Millie too.
  8. Nice first edition Patriot amp, Brent. My 2004 looks a lot like TRich's, but doesn't have the 4 screws on the front of the cab. Mathers did the cab work for Heritage Amps, so there may have been subtle changes over the years.

  11. Having played venues that provide Fender DR's, Twins, etc., I can attest to MANY of them that sounded horrible. Most of those backline amps were 'rode hard and put away wet' as they say. They looked beat to hell and sounded anemic. I'd be willing to wager that an aging solid state ToneMaster will likely sound better after tons of gigs. No tubes to wear out is a major factor in my assumption. Time will tell.

  13. I beg to differ. I don't think Brent is huge and unwieldy at all. It's that pointy gitfiddle that's going to hurt someone.

Considering the additional features loaded into the DR Tone Master rig, and the relatively close approximation to a tube DR, it makes sense why a venue like the Grand Ole Opry would use them as part of their back line. They have the option of miking the amp's speaker old school, or go direct via their balanced XLR Output Control, Selectable Cab IRs and Ground Lift. Plus TM DR amps are priced under a grand and should be maintenance free. If I owned a big nightclub or stage venue the TM DR would definitely be included.

  16. I've owned each of these models over the years and find each to be unique in how they sound, feel and play. The Sweet 16 is the only one of the three that has a 25.5 scale, but is all solid carved wood like the 24.75 scale H575. The H525 is more 'old school' like its former Gibson ES-225, but the neck joint is more secure than the Gibson. I call it 'modern vintage' since it feels like an old soul is inside of it. Of the three the 525 is the most versatile, since its thin laminate body sounds great with jazz, pop, funk and Country/Western. It can do anything asked of it.

  19. My former Gibson R7 Black Beauty was over 12 lbs. I loved its 'all mahogany' tone, but at the end of a gig, it felt like I'd been slinging a concrete accordion all night. Sold it!! (Kept the miniature version) A few years later when I spotted a triple HRW H-157 on Ebay that weighed 'only' 9.5 lbs, I jumped on it. Don't let anyone tell you that ALL Heritage H157's are heavy, even the triple nickel models can be reasonable in heft.

  21. OK Brent, I gotta ask. Which of the above-listed mods had the greatest impact on you keeping that beautiful CC 150? And if you say it was the G-style pickguard, please begin your immediate HOC self-inflicted banishment.
